Squirrel Girl Isn’t the Only Great Lakes Avenger That Could Shine in Marvel Rivals
Squirrel Girl may be a great addition to the Marvel Rivals’ roster, but she should not be the only Great Lakes Avenger that gets to join in on the fun
Posted on Reddit by RiskE80Twitch, screenshots were shared within the Marvel Rivals subreddit, highlighting a piece of dialogue from Moon Knight’s lore in the shooter. The snippet says, “’What do you know of vampires?’ Konshu asked curiously. ‘That they suck,’ Spector responded with a chuckle. ‘And that Dracula owes me money,’” and some fans may be unaware that this is pulled directly from a meme. A second screenshot showed the popular meme of Moon Knight asking Dracula for money through profanity, which is an edited version of the hero entering Shroud’s castle in Solo Avengers #3 from 1988. The Egyptian-rooted superhero was a popular addition to the shooter’s roster, but players want to see more memes added to the game, including Marvel Rivals‘ potential addition of Morbius to create the “Morbin’ Time” meme.
Marvel Rivals Makes Hilarious Moon Knight Meme Canon
In keeping with the heroes’ canon weaponry, Marvel Rivals players noticed a neat ability Moon Knight’s Ankh produced. Unlike the ability, the Dracula meme isn’t canon at all, but rather a comical headcanon suggested to air another of Moon Knight’s personalities. The original comic showed Moon Knight traversing Shroud’s lair within a gauntlet of bobby traps, but the first panel of the character descending the stairs was photoshopped back in 2018 to change the context entirely.
Marvel Rivals’ Moon Knight reveal accidentally spoiled Hawkeye’s arrival to the game, but there’s bound to be plenty of other surprises in store during the game’s infancy. Some Marvel fans believe Marvel Rivals and the Marvel Cinematic Universe could have a synergetic relationship going forward, where the live-service game could use plot points from the MCU to inspire upcoming events. It would be a great way to connect the Marvel pantheon through different mediums, and the shooter is off to a flying start in sales.
