Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: How to Solve the Counting Letters Puzzle
Another cipher gets in the way of Indy’s adventure in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and here’s exactly how players can solve Counting Letters.
When players first see the Mak-Yek board, they might feel a tad confused and overwhelmed, but this guide will help players find the code that they need for the lockbox involved, as well as how to actually figure out the solution itself for this challenging Indiana Jones and the Great Circle puzzle.
How to Solve the Mak-Yek Puzzle
The Mak-Yek puzzle can be found inside the main base of Voss’ Camp in the far North area of the Sukhothai map.
Inside the room, players can find two notes that will help them understand how Mak-Yek works, with the first note being that of Lorenzo’s Challenge which starts the A Game of Wits mystery. This note explains what players must do to get the code to the safe, and it involves moving four different blue units (once each) to capture all 9 red units.
This might seem extremely overwhelming, but with the Mak-Yek Rules note, players will be able to see just how they can begin to take the red pieces:
- A piece can move horizontally or vertically any number of squares, or until an obstacle is hit.
- Enemy pieces can be captured by surrounding them with two of your own pieces.
- A piece can be moved in between two enemy pieces that are one square apart to capture them.
With the rules in place, here is the pattern players will want to follow in order to capture all red units with just 4 of their blue units:
- Move the blue unit on F1 to F3, which takes the two red units on E3 and G3 – thus making the first number for the code 3.
- Move the blue unit on H1 to D1 (made possible because the blue unit on F1 has moved). This will capture the C1 red unit, and identify the second number for the code as 1.
- With C1 captured, move the blue unit on B1 to B8, which captures A8, C,8, D8, and E8’s red units thanks to the blue unit waiting at F8. This makes the third number for the code 8.
- With all red units on row 8 claimed, move the F8 blue unit down to F6. In conjunction with the blue unit at F3, the last two red units of F4 and F5 will be claimed, and that provides the fourth and final number for the code: 6.
A Game of Wits Safe Code
The code to the A Game of Wits safe is 3186.
This code can be entered into the safe just behind the Mak-Yek board, and inside, players will find a bunch of money to spend in the Sukhothai chapter. There is nothing else besides this luxury of wealth that players can use to buy guides and the Air Breather item, but it’s always important to solve mysteries for Adventure Points and to have the cash on hand for great Adventure Books like the ones found in the Jungle Bruiser Pit.
