Indiana Jones And The Great Circle: Strange Inscriptions Location Guide

Indiana Jones And The Great Circle: Strange Inscriptions Location Guide

One of your first tasks in Indiana Jones And The Great Circle is to get photographic evidence of hidden inscriptions throughout the Vatican, hinting at the existence of the Nephilim Order. You only need four, but collecting all ten is worth an extra Relic for your collection as well as an Achievement or Trophy.

You’ll find a room with a meowing cat before starting the tricky Father and Son Mystery in Indiana Jones And The Great Circle.

Walking the Path Of Junia requires completing many of the story missions in the Vatican, so you won’t be able to rush through and get all ten photos right away. As long as you keep your eyes peeled, though, you’ll likely notice them right away when you encounter one.

Belvedere Courtyard

There are two Strange Inscriptions in the Belvedere Courtyard, letting you start your search with some easy photos once you have the camera. A third becomes available once the Vatican Museum is unlocked later in the story.

Belvedere Fountain

The fountain in the middle of the courtyard has a Strange Inscription on the side facing the Apostolic Library. You may need to climb into the fountain to get a good angle for the photo.

Borgia Tower Exterior

Climb the scaffolds behind the larger propaganda poster at the south end of the courtyard. At the first balcony, turn right; you’ll see the Inscription on the wall of the Borgia Tower.

Vatican Museum

After you meet Gina, talk to her in the Sistine Chapel to start the Nun In Trouble mission. This will allow you to enter the Vatican Museum via the door inside the Blackshirt camp just outside the Library.

You’ll have a much easier time if you collect the Blackshirt Uniform from the Washing Tent before attempting this; see below.

When you enter the gardens in the first area of the museum, turn left immediately and climb the stairs in the corner. They’re a dead-end, but they have a Strange Inscription to photograph.

Via Belvedere

You’ll find yourself coming back to the east side of Vatican City for several quests, so don’t worry too much if you miss some of these the first time.

Belvedere Gardens

After passing through the tunnel from the main courtyard, look for a gate to your left leading to the gardens. The Inscription is in the rear right corner. This is also where you’ll exit the Vatican Museum at the end of A Nun In Trouble, giving you a perfect opportunity to snap the photo.

Post Office Basement

During the Fieldwork Mission A Savage Discovery, you’ll get the Cellar Key after defeating Giuseppe at the dig site. This lets you unlock the door at the bottom of the stairs on the outside of the Post Office building, near the military checkpoint.

Inside, take a left to get behind the scaffolding obscuring the other side of the room, where you’ll see the Strange Inscription on the far wall.

Vatican Sewers

Speak to Sister Catherine in the Sistine Chapel, then go to the Library and ask Antonio about Father Crescenzo’s journal. He’ll give you the Sewer Key.

Enter the Tower of Nicholas the Fifth and turn right immediately to get into the sewers, using the key to open the grate that blocks the main area. After the climbing challenge, there’s a Strange Inscription along the stairs leading back to the Apostolic Palace.

There’s also a side door that you can unlock, allowing an easy return from the street if needed.

Whose spirit is haunting this ancient tomb in Gizah?

Apostolic Palace

Rooftop

There are several paths that will take you to the Inscription on the roof of the Apostolic Palace. The two easiest are:

  • Climb out the window behind the puzzle box replica of St. Peter’s Square and climb the scaffold to your right.
  • Climb the construction site just outside the Sistine Chapel’s main entrance.

Either way, take your time and watch your step so as not to fall.

Washing Tent

Immediately after the cutscene where you meet Gina and the German airship appears, zipline across from the balcony, then crawl through the hole in the fence behind your landing spot. Climb down into the Washing Tent area and defeat the three Blackshirts there.

This area has a Strange Inscription near the point where you climbed down, as well as the Blackshirt Uniform and Key. The former is very useful for getting into military areas, including several of the places on this list where Inscriptions are hidden.

Excavation Site

The Excavation Site is crawling with guards, so either equip the Blackshirt Uniform or be ready for a fight any time you go there. The Strange Inscription is in the corner opposite the foreman’s office.

Fountain Of Confession

Your final stop on your tour of the Vatican will be the Fountain Of Confession. Before completing the puzzle and entering the hidden monastery, climb the stairs to the left to find the tenth and final Strange Inscription.

Once you have all ten photographs, place them on the bulletin board in Antonio’s office to get your reward; Adventure Points and a Relic, which you can pick up from Antonio’s desk.
