Tips and Tricks for Playing Scarlet Witch in Marvel Rivals
As mentioned above, Scarlet Witch relies heavily on her Chaos Controls as a means of delivering most of her offense, but that’s not to say that her abilities won’t offer players a well-rounded approach to a match and a way to make up for her weaknesses in health and movement. Here are some considerations to make when playing Scarlet Witch:
- Manage your distance – Wanda is extremely effective at mid-range, but is vulnerable in particular to melee-heavy characters like Captain America or Wolverine. It’s important to maintain a relatively safe distance from your opponents as possible, as the ideal scenario is to unleash your attacks behind tanks or melee-forward allies.
- String together combos – the most effective way to utilize Wanda’s abilities in an attacking sequence is to master the Dark Seal ability. Get some practice in and use this as the basis upon which you launch attacks on enemies. When done right, a combo of Dark Seal, Chthonian Burst, and Chaos Control will knock out most enemies, or at least leave the most durable, like Hulk and Venom, vulnerable to be finished off.
- Be trigger-happy with Mystic Projection – Wanda’s ability to disappear for a short period can be a real game-changer when applied effectively. In instances where you are overwhelmed by enemy attacks, using Mystic Projection can open a small window of opportunity to make an escape and heal your character. Her ability to ascend during Mystic Projection also means she can quickly change floors, which will give you a chance to get out of there alive.
- Keep a Healer nearby – Wanda is at her best when she can unleash her standard attack uninterrupted, so having a healing ally, like Jeff the Land Shark or Mantis, can give you the opportunity to overwhelm opponents with your limitless standard attack. So long as you keep the Chaos energy focussed on the target, you’ll wipe out most enemies in a matter of seconds. Wanda only has 250 health, so teaming up with a healer will not only keep her alive, but allow her to focus on knocking out enemies in succession.
- Team-Up with Magneto – while it won’t give Wanda any active boons in-game, having Magneto and Scarlet Witch on the same team will have a positive impact on the squad as a whole. With her team-up ability, Magneto’s attacks become more potent, so standing alongside him will make for a fearsome duo that will be hard to overpower.
- Use Scarlet’s Ultimate sparingly – Wanda has an extremely effective Ultimate that, when used properly, can wipe out multiple enemies at once. It does, however, take a while to power up, giving enemies more than enough time to knock her out and deny her the opportunity to unleash it. The best way to use Reality Erasure is to start charging it out of sight, then gradually ascend the intended area as she gets closer to detonating the energy. If you can start behind a wall, or even flanked by a healer, you can legitimately change the momentum of a match in one fell swoop.
