From unlocking skill gems to supports, here is everything you need to know about gems in Path of Exile 2.

Thankfully, we are here to help you. In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to farm gold in Path of Exile 2. Enemies will drop gold upon defeat, but sometimes, you’ll just get a few at a time. We’ll cover the most efficient gold farming methods to avoid any time wasted.

What Is Gold Used For?

Before learning about gold, let’s look at what you’ll do with it. First and foremost, it’s the main currency used at vendors in Wraeclast. This includes gear vendors like Renly in the Clearfall Encampment, as well as specialized vendors such as Una, who sells flasks in addition to a selection of gear.

If you are looking to gamble, you can also use gold to do so with Finn. This NPC will display several pages of random gear that you can spend gold on. Sometimes, you may get a very bad item, but you’ll also have a chance to get a rare item that proves to be useful.

The final most important use for gold is to respec passive skill points. This can be done with the Hooded One, who will appear in the Clearfell Encampment after you complete The Mysterious Shade quest.

With all of that in mind, let’s look at some of the best ways to farm gold in Path of Exile 2.

Sell Valuable Loot

It’s natural to hoard everything that you come across, but you can make some decent gold by selling unused gear. For example, if you have a rare-quality wand, but don’t use wands in your build, you can simply sell it to any vendor. When hovering over it in your inventory (while looking at the vendor’s wares), you’ll be able to see how much it goes for.

If you are looking to do some leveling, you can also use this as an opportunity to gather loot from enemies and sell it back to a vendor. Just be sure to organize your inventory so you can easily pick up items.

Be sure to identify rare loot before selling it to a vendor, as you may make more gold in the transaction.

Kill Bosses & Enemies

Gold drops from slain enemies, which is a good way to make gold as you go through the story. In addition to defeating enemies, taking on bosses is recommended.

This is easier said than done at times, but typically, you’ll get more loot from bosses than you would from a normal enemy. This isn’t always feasible, but be sure to complete any quests that culminate in a boss fight.

Path of Exile 2 boasts an impressive roster of bosses, with many being optional. From the map, you’ll be able to see all bosses in an area (marked with a skull). Use this as a guideline to see who still needs to be defeated for the first time in order to earn some nice rewards.

If you see an enemy with a gold name, be sure to defeat them! They may drop a hefty amount of gold for you to gather.

Find Secret Rooms

From time to time, you may stumble into a ‘secret’ room that has gold for you to pick up. We first found one of these rooms while in the Mausoleum on our way to fight Draven. Here, we found a switch that revealed a staircase leading down. In this hidden room, we found tons of gold on the floor, as well as chests with a mixture of gold and items.

Due to the randomly generated areas, there is no guarantee that you’ll find one of these rooms. In order to boost your chances of discovering one, we suggest going into any area that isn’t explicitly marked on the map. Additionally, explore each main area to the fullest before moving on.

Open Caches & Chests

The last tip is similar to the previous one, in that it isn’t guaranteed. Additionally, it shouldn’t be used as the primary gold farming method; this is just something to keep in mind.

While exploring maps, you may find buried caches and chests. Like gear that you obtain, these stashes have their own rarity. A gold chest has a higher chance of containing something more valuable, including money.

When you spot a chest or cache, be sure to open it; you never know what you’ll find!

Tips To Farm Gold

With all of this in mind, let’s look at some tips to help you get gold quickly.

Firstly, if you plan on defeating enemies (and not bosses), we suggest doing your farming in an area with a high concentration of enemies. This applies to a lot of areas, as it’s just the nature of the game. Still, if you are looking to be efficient, try not to backtrack too often into areas where you’ve already defeated most of the enemies.

Overall, smaller maps may be the way to go, as there is less ground to cover and in turn, less of a chance to be in a wide expanse with no spawned enemies.

In terms of selling for profit, it’s a good idea to pick up every gold-quality item that you come across. Anything lower than this may not be worth selling. If you don’t want to use Scrolls of Wisdom to identify items, you can do this for free by speaking with the Hooded One.

By combining all of these methods, you’ll be able to save up enough gold to buy or gamble for whatever you want!
