Marvel Snap’s Season Pass card for the Marvel Rivals season is Galacta, a four-Cost, eight-Power passive card that buffs the first card you play to another location each turn. She is the daughter of Galactus and has reliable synergy with her father. However, due to Galactus’s predictable play line, Galacta works best in a less readable deck, like a modified Silver Surfer setup. This guide explains how to build an effective deck for Galacta in the current Marvel Snap metagame and offers insight into her overall performance to help you decide if she’s worth your money.

The Best Deck for Galacta
In addition to her synergy with Galactus, Galacta performs well in a refined Silver Surfer deck alongside Sebastian Shaw. To build this deck, include the trio of Silver Surfer, Sebastian Shaw, and Galacta, along with the following cards: Psylocke, Zabu, Gwenpool, Brood, Cassandra Nova, Absorbing Man, Hope Summers, Luna Snow, and Red Guardian.

The Synergies of Galacta’s Deck
- Zabu, Psylocke, Hope Summers, and Luna Snow are discount providers. Use them to play Galacta early and drop more three-cost cards.
- Galacta is the initial buff provider. You want her to buff cards like Sebastian Shaw or Brood.
- Silver Surfer is the primary buff provider. Aim to have him buff all three-Cost cards on the board and, ideally, retrigger his effect with Absorbing Man.
- Gwenpool is the secondary buff provider. She can buff cards like Brood or Sebastian Shaw, making it easier to distribute Power across the board.
- Cassandra Nova and Red Guardian are tech options. Cassandra shields you against the Arishem META, while Red Guardian helps remove the text of Ice Cubes you might add to the enemy’s line. (Ice Cubes, created by Luna Snow, grant both sides an extra Energy per turn.)
How to Play Galacta Effectively
Keep these notes in mind when playing Galacta:
- Galacta works best when played early. Playing her on curve gives you a net +6 Power, but she truly thrives when dropped on turn two or three. When building a deck for Galacta, plan for Cost-reduction lineups to make this possible.
- You can play to her lane first and still get the buff. There’s no need to play the first card away from Galacta to activate her buff. She will automatically target “the first card you play away from her.” For example, drop Red Guardian in her lane to reveal first, then play Sebastian Shaw in another lane for Galacta to buff him.
- She synergizes with Galactus-Symbiote decks. The catch is that many players expect the Symbiote Spider-Man & Galactus combo. If you run Galacta with Galactus, make sure you have a surprise up your sleeve to keep it unpredictable. Otherwise, Silver Surfer lineups are better for making your deck harder to counter.
How to Counter Galacta
Buff providers aren’t always hard to counter in Marvel Snap, and Galacta is no exception. You can include a standard Shang-Chi & Shadow King duo in your deck to prevent her from growing too big. You can also negate her effect by clogging the opponent’s lanes with cards like Goblins or Debrii or by filling their hand with cards like Black Widow.
If you’re facing a Galacta-Galactus deck, simply include Cosmo in your deck. If the opponent is leaving a lane suspiciously empty, drop Cosmo there to ruin their plan. Other anti-Galactus strategies, like clogging lanes or moving enemy cards, can also help. Cards like Viper, Juggernaut, and Magneto can fill lanes and stop Galactus’s effect.
Is Galacta Worth It?
If you’re not subscribed to Marvel Snap’s Premium Season Pass, Galacta won’t be the card to change your mind. While she offers good synergy and is useful in certain setups, she’s not worth the $10 cost. Unlike other META-shaking Season Pass cards in the past, Galacta isn’t going to drastically shift the metagame. If you’re already running a competitive deck that’s performing well, you can safely skip her.
