Xbox Game Pass has been firing on all cylinders recently, adding at least two acclaimed titles to the service every month since September. Though it’s faced a few technical hiccups with Flight Simulator 2024 and STALKER 2‘s launches, they don’t seem to have hampered Game Pass’ momentum too much, and now Xbox Game Pass is about to end 2024 with a bang.
The latest in a long line of great AAA Xbox Game Pass launches, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has kicked off Game Pass’ December line-up in style, and it’ll soon be joined by Hunt: Showdown 1896, For the King 2, and Wildfrost. Together, these games close out Xbox Game Pass’ 2024 nicely. But there might be a few more surprises up Xbox’s sleeve, and those could be revealed in dramatic fashion at this year’s Game Awards, which airs on December 12.

Xbox Usually Has a Strong Presence At The Game Awards
As the Game Awards show has continued to gain popularity over the years, Xbox Game Pass’ presence during the ceremony has gradually increased. 2021’s Game Awards ceremony saw Somerville, Trek to Yomi, Plague Tale: Requiem, and Sniper Elite 5 all get announced, alongside confirmation that they’d be coming to Xbox Game Pass. 2022’s Game Awards saw the same for titles like Atomic Heart, Replaced, Party Animals, and Spirittea. And last year’s Game Awards confirmed that Harmonium would be coming to Game Pass.
The Game Awards has also frequently been used as a stage for Xbox to reveal and re-reveal its first-party titles, the vast majority of which come to Xbox Game Pass on day-one. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was shown during several Game Awards ceremonies before its Xbox Game Pass launch earlier this year. Two of the biggest surprises of 2023’s Game Awards show were Hideo Kojima’s OD and Arkane’s Marvel’s Blade, both of which are Xbox projects, and both of which will likely come to Game Pass when they eventually release.
What Xbox Could Announce at The Game Awards 2024
The odds of Xbox having a strong presence at this year’s Game Awards ceremony is fairly high, and thus so are the odds of more Game Pass announcements. Between its first-party studios, Activision-Blizzard, Bethesda, and all of its third-party partners, Xbox has a lot of irons in the fire right now, some of which could appear during the 2024 Game Awards on December 12.
Obsidian’s Avowed is already confirmed for a February 18, 2025 release date, so the likelihood of it getting a trailer during The Game Awards is quite high. The same is true for Rebellion’s Atomfall, which is set for release in March. Then there are games such as Fable, Doom: The Dark Ages, FBC: Firebreak, South of Midnight, The Alters, and Towerborne, all of which are slated for 2025 but don’t have concrete release dates. Any of these upcoming Game Pass titles could appear during the Game Awards.
It’s also been rumored that Xbox’s flagship franchise, Halo, could be on the verge of announcing something. Recent leaks suggest a Halo: Combat Evolved remake using Unreal Engine 5 could be in development, and while all leaks should be taken with a pinch of salt, it’d be great to see it come to fruition at this year’s Game Awards.
