Chapter Five, The Pinnacle Walkthrough (Includes The Final Clash)

Chapter Five, The Pinnacle Walkthrough (Includes The Final Clash)

The Rise of the Golden Idol finally reaches its nail-biting conclusion in Chapter 5, the final part of the investigation into this mysterious and dangerous ancient artifact. The final part of the story has some fun and interesting new scenarios to explore, and also ties up the dropped threads from previous chapters.

Players will probably need to review the information from previous chapters to have all the information needed for the last one. Some of the names and places repeat, and these scenarios are longer and more complex than the ones that came before them.

Rise Of The Golden Idol: Chapter Four, The Trials Walkthrough

In the fourth chapter of The Rise of the Golden Idol, players will explore a variety of environments.

Several of these scenarios have more progression-based puzzles, which means
the player has to solve
the first few before the next ones in the sequence are unlocked.

Chapter 5: The Pinnacle

Where Terrible Plans Are Set In Motion

In this chapter of the game, players learn the details of how the Idol was used for commercial profit. The Idol’s potential to be profoundly benevolent or evil when it came to manipulating people made it ideal for someone hoping to encourage consumers to buy certain products. Others, however, had more lofty or even malevolent intentions. Chapter 5 reveals the invention of the game’s main protagonists and their creation, a machine called I.D.O.L. that can be used to control emotions and memories.

Following the completion of Chapter 5, there’s a final section that explains the conclusion, The Final Clash. This opens up after completing Idol Rules, which closes out the chapter.

Steelside Warehouse

Dark Experiments At The Docks

A story thread from a previous chapter continues here. Players are encouraged to check previous information to refresh their memory of the story and its main characters.

The Final Clash is unlocked when the other Chapters and Idol Rules have been completed. It’s the longest scenario in the game and doesn’t have words to collect, but numerous Spots to find instead, and stretches across several screens.

Dwelling

There are four of these. No clues are required to finish it, just the power of observation.

  • Best: Blue mattress with grey wall
  • Second: Purple wall with blue mattress
  • Third: Pink pillow with polka-dots
  • Worst: The bed with orange stripes and litter

Timeline

The homeless people living here arrived in a certain order. This is the second puzzle, but it might be one of the last the player finishes. It requires a fair amount of information, which is found mostly in the Dwelling areas.

  • From the first arrival to the last: Scrawny Marvin, Harry Stone, Dirty William, Luke Brown, Orion Sky, Funny Phil

Residents

This puts together the two previous puzzles by adding the names and locations of the people who live on the docks.

  • Harry Stone, the dad man, has the blue mattress with the yellow pillow.
  • Funny Phil, wearing a fedora and facing to the left, has the mattress with orange and white stripes.
  • Orion Sky and Dirty William share a single room, with Orion on the left and Dirty on the right. Orion has a red toque and Dirty is wearing a fisherman’s hat.

Game

Change the screen to the scene on the boat moored nearby to unlock the Game puzzle. Each character is pretending to be someone else.

Idol Rules

The Secret Of The Machine Is Revealed

This part of the game unlocks only when the previous four scenarios have been solved. Before moving on to Final Clash, players have to complete the puzzle that describes how the I.D.O.L. works:

  • Top row, from left to right: ≈ 1 month, ≈ 3 days, ≈ 1 day, ≈ 1 minute, all

Underneath, label the controls:

  • Clockwise from the top: Matter, Memory, Heat, Take, Give

For the Comic Panels below the controls, drag the available icons into the following spaces. The crystals always go into the I.D.O.L. with only one exception in Panel 2.

  • Panel 1: Blue crystal, pink brain
  • Panel 2: red crystal, red crystal eyes
  • Panel 3: red crystal, blue brain, yellow brain
  • Panel 4: blue crystal, pink brain, pink brain

The short text under the two red disks is to the right of the Controls section. The two missing words are memory and deplete, in that order. Beneath the short text about the disks is a longer paragraph beneath a picture of a red crystal and a blue crystal. The missing words are:

  • full
  • take
  • nothing
  • empty
  • give
  • empty
  • disk
  • conscious
  • person

When this puzzle is finished, the Final Clash is unlocked.
