With the Genshin Impact 5.2 update, HoYoverse introduced Travelers to two new Natlan tribes: the Masters of the Night-Wind and the Flower-Feather Clan. While members of the Flower-Feather Clan are known for their exceptional flight skills, the Masters of the Night-Wind are a mystical tribe excelling in spiritual arts.
In Genshin Impact 5.2’s major event, Iktomi Spiritseeking Scrolls, players experience the spiritual prowess of the Masters of the Night-Wind as Ororon and Citali set out to help Leyla, a spirit-duffer who has lost his soul. While participating in the event, players can obtain a 4-star sword called Calamity of Eshu. Even though 4-star weapons are usually not very impressive, Calamity of Eshu is an outlier. This guide examines the stats, passive skills, and best character synergies for Calamity of Eshu.

Genshin Impact: Calamity of Eshu (Stats & Passive Effect)
Calamity of Eshu is a 4-star reward from the limited-time Iktomi Spiritseeking Scrolls event in the Genshin Impact 5.2 update. At max level 90, this sword offers a high base Attack of 565 and 27.6% Attack as its secondary stat. These stats alone make it a strong pick for sword-wielding characters in Genshin Impact. However, its standout feature is its passive effect.
The star of the show is Calamity of Eshu’s Diffusing Boundary passive at Refinement Rank 5:
While characters are protected by a shield, DMG dealt by Normal and Charged Attacks is increased by 40%, and the Crit Rate of these attacks is increased by 16%.
This passive effect is invaluable for any sword-DPS character who deals damage via Normal and Charged Attacks. Additionally, the direct 16% Crit Rate boost to these attacks makes it highly effective as long as the character remains shielded. Since most Normal/Charged Attack DPS characters benefit from avoiding interruptions, running a shielding character alongside them is often a strategic choice.
Best Characters for Calamity of Eshu
If you have obtained the Calamity of Eshu sword from the event and are unsure whom to equip it with, here are some recommended characters.
Keqing
Keqing is arguably the best candidate for the Calamity of Eshu sword. Her kit revolves around dealing damage with her Normal and Charged Attack combos. While her Burst is noteworthy, Keqing’s gameplay typically focuses on her Electro infusion and strong melee scaling.
When paired with Dendro shielders like Baizhu and Kirara, Keqing can take full advantage of the weapon’s passive effect while triggering the Aggravate reaction for extra damage. If these units aren’t available, other shielders like Zhongli, Diona, or Layla work well. Fans of Physical DPS Keqing can pair her with a Cryo shielder to trigger the Superconduct reaction.

Genshin Impact: All Shield Users, Ranked
Genshin Impact doesn’t have many shield users. Here’s how every single one in the game compares.
C6 Lynette
Lynette is usually a sub-DPS character, but her role changes significantly if her sixth constellation is unlocked. At Constellation 6, Lynette gains a 20% Anemo DMG Bonus and Anemo infusion for six seconds after using her skill Enigmatic Feint. Players with C6 Lynette can consider using Calamity of Eshu for additional Normal and Charged Attack damage when paired with a shielder.
Kamisato Ayaka
While Kamisato Ayaka is renowned for her powerful Elemental Burst, her Charged Attack scaling is also impressive. She is one of the few characters for whom leveling all three active talents is recommended. If you want to enhance Ayaka’s Charged Attacks, Calamity of Eshu ranks among the best 4-star weapons.
Ayaka often pairs with Diona due to her high energy requirements. Diona’s reliable shield uptime ensures that Calamity of Eshu’s passive effect remains active.
Kamisato Ayato
Like his sister, Kamisato Ayato can also use Calamity of Eshu effectively. His main damage comes from his Elemental Skill, which counts as Normal Attack damage and benefits from the weapon’s 40% DMG boost. While Ayato’s Elemental Skill provides interruption resistance, a shielder like Baizhu or Diona can be included for additional protection and healing.
Qiqi
Qiqi is often overlooked in Genshin Impact, due to players losing their 50/50 to this adorable zombie. However, with the right build, Qiqi can be a decent Physical DPS. Paired with an Electro unit like Fischl or Raiden Shogun, Qiqi can consistently trigger the Superconduct reaction to lower enemy Physical RES. For players lacking strong 5-star swords, Calamity of Eshu can elevate Physical DPS Qiqi’s performance.
