The recent Season 6 update and console release for New World: Aeternum has turned out to be quite a major milestone for the three-year-old MMO, offering various improvements for both new and returning players to enjoy. After what turned out to be quite a successful year for New World: Aeternum in 2024, the game is already set to start the new year strong with the Season 7 update, arriving in January 2025.
A new Living Roadmap was recently revealed for New World: Aeternum, outlining what players can expect from the Season 7 update and beyond, and among some of these new additions revealed for the game’s future updates, there are some big changes in store for the game as a whole. While some of these changes aren’t expected until later on throughout the year, there are several notable additions arriving in New World: Aeternum’s Season 7 update in January, far more than just a new Season Pass rewards track to look forward to.

Seasonal Worlds Allow New World: Aeternum to Experiment with Major Changes
Starting in Season 7, New World: Aeternum will be releasing Seasonal Worlds that feature different game rules than traditional Worlds. New World: Aeternum’s Season 7 Seasonal World will focus on changes to open-world PvP, notably by making PvP always-on and improving the loot dropped by players when killed, among other changes. These Seasonal Worlds will only be available for a given Season, but depending on players’ feedback, they could potentially inspire permanent changes to the game’s traditional Worlds.
What to Expect From the New Artifacts, Perks, and Balancing Changes Coming in New World: Aeternum’s Season 7 Update
While the new Artifacts have yet to be revealed, there’s currently only one Artifact available for earrings, amulets, necklaces, and certain weapon types in New World: Aeternum, so it’s safe to expect that these will be priorities for new Artifacts. As for perks, New World: Aeternum’s developers have recently mentioned that they plan to experiment with adding additional perks that augment specific weapon abilities. Between the new Artifacts, new perks, and other overall balancing changes coming every Season, the future for New World: Aeternum’s endgame build variety has never looked so bright.
New World’s Season 7 Update Continues an Ongoing Process to Improve Endgame Activity Rewards
Matchmaking is coming to M3 Mutated Expeditions in New World: Aeternum in Season 7, as well as improved rewards and a new system that unifies the Mutation modifiers across all featured Mutated Expeditions. In the past, M3 Mutated Expeditions have often been overlooked due to being too difficult and lacking in rewards, though since this update will simultaneously make M3 Mutated Expeditions more accessible and more rewarding, players may want to reconsider adding this activity back to their endgame routine.
Similar to M3 Mutated Expeditions, the daily Solo Trials in New World: Aeternum also currently suffer from lacking rewards. While there will be new daily Solo Trials added in Season 7, which will presumably address this problem, the existing Solo Trials are expected to have their rewards improved in future updates for New World: Aeternum coming sometime after Season 7.
Overall, New World: Aeternum has changed a lot since its original release, yet there are still several exciting updates in store for its future, delivering a variety of highly-requested features as well as other surprise reveals. For both new and returning players, 2025 in particular is already shaping up to be another big year for New World: Aeternum with the Season 7 update in January introducing far more than a new Season Pass rewards track.
