A brand-new teaser trailer for Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s post-apocalyptic horror 28 Years Later was revealed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, and it may hold some clues as to when the full trailer’s release date will be revealed. The short teaser also showcased a location setting for the new horror movie. 28 Years Later is the third film in a zombie film trilogy that began with the movie 28 Days Later in 2002 and was continued by its sequel, 28 Weeks Later, five years after that. Bringing in a slew of new and returning cast members, 28 Years Later will star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer, Cillian Murphy, Jack O’Connell, Erin Kellyman, Chi Lewis-Parry, and Edvin Ryding.
Directed by Boyle, who is known for movies like Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire, and The Beach, 28 Years Later focuses on a young boy who needs to find a doctor to help his dying mother, but to do so, he needs to journey through the hills and forests of the northern England countryside. However, due to the Rage Virus returning yet again, infected lie in wait within these locations, causing chaos and terror. So far, very little is known about 28 Years Later’s plot, but there also seems to be a group of survivors as well, so the little boy may end up teaming up with these people too, or the movie could tell narratives separately from both sides.

28 Years Later Teaser Reveals New Location And Possible Trailer Release Date
On YouTube, Sony Pictures Entertainment released its first teaser for 28 Years Later, director Danny Boyle’s long-awaited zombie apocalypse sequel. Even though the teaser is only 13 seconds long and doesn’t give away too much about the film (yet), there are a few clues and reveals packed into its short clip. The teaser is mostly set in darkness but through flashes, viewers get a glimpse of a brand-new remote island setting that looks as ominous as it sounds. The clip also shows the appearance of sporadic red skulls, as seen on 28 Years Later’s first poster, and biohazard symbol logos, with a quick glance at a mysterious figure with, what looks to be, an arrow through its head.
The most interesting part of the teaser, though, is what viewers can hear. Through the short clip, Morse code is played which reveals the message “Tuesday”, suggesting that a full trailer could be released this week. Sony also made sure not to add anything to the description of the YouTube video to really drive up its cryptic shenanigans. Even though many fans believe that a full trailer could come out as soon as Tuesday, December 10, there’s also the possibility it could be released on any given Tuesday. However, most would certainly prefer the latter. Co-writer Alex Garland previously stated that he ripped off a 1969 British coming-of-age drama film when deciding on the narrative for 28 Years Later.
Looking at the new teaser for 28 Years Later, it seems as though the remote island could be either somewhere where survivors have gone to get away from the infected or a place where the infected have been placed. Either way, unless it goes down The Walking Dead route with zombies who can walk along the sea bed, it feels like it could be a “safe place”, but, as everyone knows, there’s really no such thing as this in horror movies.
28 Years Later will be released in theaters on June 20, 2025.
