Wolverine and Hulk are two of Marvel’s most powerful and exciting characters. They bring pure rage to the forefront of everything that they do in the most compelling way possible. The idea of them in the same Marvel movie is appealing to many, and this story could lead to some epic fight scenes.
Now that Wolverine is finally involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the big question for most fans is what he will do next. Marvel Studios could take many different routes with the mutant character, but a potential Wolverine vs. Hulk movie appears to be one they’re leaning toward.

Could Wolverine Vs. Hulk Happen?
The possibility of this movie taking place is certainly real, as according to CBM, Twitter insider MyTimeToShineH, Marvel Studios has begun actively developing it. That doesn’t mean that it’s official at this stage, as that won’t be the case until a public announcement takes place, but it appears that Marvel is certainly looking to take the two characters in a direction that would bring them together for an upcoming movie.
This could end up being similar to Deadpool and Wolverine in the sense that it taps into the multiverse and becomes an adventure that features multiple cameos, or they could team up to compete against a completely different villain in the same timeline. Of course, considering the anger within the characters, there would be a lot of excitement in seeing them fight against each other, which could see Marvel completely change one of their trajectories in a bid to position them against each other.
It would tap into a popular comic book miniseries known as ‘Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk,’ which could be an interesting angle for Marvel to take for a one-off movie. However, even though they’re iconic characters, and there’s no doubt that a story between them could be engaging and interesting, that doesn’t mean that it is the right decision for Marvel to make at this moment.
Why It’s A Bad Idea For Marvel To Push This Movie
While Wolverine and Hulk are two popular characters that audiences certainly want to see, it’s hard to imagine how a movie with them as the lead characters fits into the current MCU, which focuses on the multiverse. Nor does it make sense for them to be put together in the first place when they have no connection or reason to be together in the same place right now.
On top of that, the general interest in Hulk isn’t at its peak right now, and that’s down to how much the character has changed for the worse. He’s totally different from the Hulk that first appeared in the MCU, and the general talk of him having a solo movie such as this, albeit with another character, doesn’t exist in the way it once did. It feels like there is a lot to be done with Hulk to try and get him back to that point, and Marvel needs to address those issues in other movies, such as future Avengers projects, before throwing him out into a major movie such as this, which could risk underperforming if people aren’t interested in seeing it.
Wolverine Doesn’t Always Need To Be Paired With Others
Adding Wolverine to the MCU excited lots of people, especially with Hugh Jackman returning to take on the role. Pairing him with Deadpool made sense because audiences have been clamoring for that story, and the chemistry between Jackman and Ryan Reynolds was clear. However, the same interest isn’t there for Wolverine and Hulk being in a Marvel movie together, as they don’t have that same energy.
Even though this has been a comic book, it doesn’t mean that it has to be translated into the big screen. That’s particularly true due to the current versions of the characters that exist in the MCU. This Wolverine is far past his prime, while Marvel’s decisions surrounding Hulk have been bizarre at times and have seriously hurt his overall character. He’s not got the rage inside him that people typically associate with Hulk, and that would work best alongside Wolverine in a movie, as the decision to create Smart Hulk essentially took away from that.
Wolverine is also a character that doesn’t need to be consistently paired with others in the MCU. It would make sense for him to be part of a grander X-Men movie, but outside of that, he’s more than capable of leading a movie on his own, as the character has that much stock with Marvel fans. However, pairing him with someone else for a second time would begin to diminish that and make Wolverine feel more like a secondary character, taking away some of his value, which would be a mistake on Marvel’s behalf.
