One of these locked chests can be found in the Vatican City’s Cellar, which you’ll gain access to towards the end of the “Savage Discovery” Fieldwork. It’s right after Indy discovers the Stone Tablet and a guard enters the cellar, leading to a fight. Here’s how players can open up the locked chest.

How to Open the Vatican Cellar’s Locked Chest in Indiana Jones and The Great Circle

Players will come across a locked chest in the Vatican’s Cellar and the code to unlock it is 1136 in Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.

If you want to figure out the locked chest code for yourself, you’ll need to grab the Lockbox Note from the soldier Indy takes down in the cellar. The note mentions how the locked chest contains money, and the code for it was changed by the captain. Although that’s just some contextual information, the main hint about the code is at the bottom. The hint says, “November, Last Year.”

Players who have paid attention to the promotional material for the game on Bethesda’s website will know that Indiana Jones and The Great Circle takes place in 1937. So, with that knowledge, players can easily come up with the code for the locked box in the Vatican’s Cellar.

The Location of the Vatican Cellar Locked Chest

As mentioned before, players will arrive at the Vatican City’s Cellar towards the end of the “Savage Discovery” fieldwork. You cannot enter the Cellar before completing this quest as you get the Cellar Key from Giuseppe, a worker at the excavation site.


However, if you missed opening the Cellar’s locked chest on your first visit, you can still revisit the Cellar as it’s located right under the Post Office (location marked on the map). The body of the soldier that you took out during the quest will still be lying on the ground. So, you can grab the Lockbox Note at any part of the story and open the Vatican Cellar’s locked chest in Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.
