- Strikerz Inc CEO has officially confirmed UFL mobile is in works
- UFL aims to provide a fair yet complete free-to-play experience without forcing players into IAPs
- The mobile version isn’t coming out anytime soon.
Strikerz Inc. has released its free-to-play soccer title, UFL on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The fully free-to-play football sim comes to provide competition to EA‘s EA Sports FC, and KONAMI eFootball long-dominated football video games industry. Recently, post a successful launch, Eugene Nashilov, the CEO of Strikerz Inc. confirmed in an interview that a separate mobile version of UFL is in development.
UFL was first revealed at Gamescom 2021, with alpha and beta tests taking place over the next three years. The game comes with the official FIFPRO license, meaning you will be able to play with authentic real-life footballers with their accurate play styles and likenesses. Additionally, UFL has partnered up with popular football clubs including West Ham United, Celtic, Rangers, etc. Former FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has also joined as the game’s official ambassador.
UFL promises to bring a free and fair-to-play gameplay experience
UFL aims to provide its gamers with a “fair-to-play” and “skill-first approach” without pressurizing them into spending money on IAPs. According to the devs, Strikerz Inc., “Players’ success should not depend on the number of in-game purchases or the value of donations they make, but on their gaming skills, experience, and mastery.”
In UFL, similar to eFootball and EA Sports FC FUT, you will begin by creating and managing your club in your very own shape. You will be choosing an initial formation, your starting captain, and will be handed your initial squad of footballers. You will then play matches and upgrade them to the modern tactics that suit your playstyle.
As you win more and more ranked matches and climb up the leaderboard, you will earn in-game currency that will allow you to buy better players for your squad and upgrade your starting eleven. As discussed previously, the game primarily focuses on your skill and how many PvP matches you can grind out with an effective tactic.
The game is set to launch across mobile platforms, but not in 2025
Post a successful launch on consoles, Strikerz Inc. has decided to introduce UFL on mobiles, capturing the huge mobile gaming player base. As per Eugene, a separate and dedicated development team is working on the mobile version with the PC version of UFL releasing next year.
“The only thing I can say right now is that we are already working on the mobile version. There is a separate team. It won’t be released in 2025 because we must adapt a lot to the mobile ecosystem, but it’s definitely coming after that. We are confident that this is gonna be a good separate experience of UFL on mobile devices.”
Eugene Nashilov, Strikerz Inc. CEO
Football mobile games have always been fan favorites with simulation titles such as FC Mobile, eFootball, and Dream League Soccer dominating the market, Football Manager, Soccer Manager, and Top Eleven have been some of the most downloaded soccer-management sims. And with UFL Mobile in development, it’s to be seen if the game can become a mainstay in the industry provided it sees the light of day.
