The Best Skills To Get For Prickle In Fantasian Neo Dimension

While they may be your very first companion in Fantasian Neo Dimension, they are not with you for very long at all. That is, of course, until they are finally dubbed Prickle by Kina later in the story. Then Prickle really grows into their own.

Fantasian is back, exactly as you remember it.

After returning to Leo’s party by the end of Act 1, Prickle has gained a few more moves from when you saw them the first time around. They are a healer, but they have some pretty handy utilities and combat functionalities too. Let’s see how to get the most out of Prickle.

Prickle’s Role In Combat

character profile for prickle in fantasian neo dimension showing their stats.

When you get Prickle in the very beginning of the game, he is with you very briefly, playing support to Leo’s offense. He leaves the party shortly after, replaced in many of his functions by Kina. So when he finally rejoins the party, does he have a distinct playstyle of his own?

Thankfully, yes. While Kina can later get Barrier through her Growth Map, Prickle has it natively as well as plenty more options surrounding it. He also comes with a surprising number of combat abilities as well, from being able to Hack enemies to death, to unleashing a hail of bullets on every enemy.

Prickle will never be a consistent member of your party, but rather is great for how situational he is. Heal All and Barrier All are saviours in a pinch, and Hack can force an enemy to skip a turn to give you even more time to prep your party. And while Frenzy hits everyone randomly, it is incredibly powerful when you use it against a single enemy instead.

When he wants, Prickle can really dole out some serious damage. Using Frenzy against a single target while boosted with Attack Power Up and Charge can make him a surprising powerhouse if you can’t risk swapping him out. And with him being able to cast Barriers at any time, even as a response to being hit, he can be quite sturd yas well.

Prickle’s Skills

By the time you acquire Prickle, you may already be around level 30. He doesn’t rejoin the party until after Vam is defeated, after all. As such, he will have already learned the majority of his skills by time you meet him, though there are still a few more to get.

Here’s every skill Prickle has by default, and learns from leveling up:

Skill

Effect

Level Unlocked

Heal

Restores HP for the targeted character.

Default

Cure

Removes any status ailments, excluding Curse.

Default

Lightning

Casts a Lightning-elemental attack that arcs and pierces enemies.

Default

Frenzy

Fires off a volley of bullets, randomly striking enemies with reduced accuracy.

Default

Research

Casts Analyse on an arc that pierces enemies.

Default

Barrier

Casts a Barrier on the targeted character, blocking a specific number of hits.

Default

Barrier All

Casts a Barrier on every character.

Level 30

Hack

Hacks an enemy, dealing no damage but inflicting Turn Delay on them.

Level 32

Resist

Removes any stat debuffs.

Level 36

Excluding Hack, Prickle comes with the vast majority of their unique moves by default, already giving you a clear indication of their capabilities. Many of these can be enhanced through the Growth Map, though your tactics will primarily be focused on these ones.

Prickle’s Growth Map

Like every other companion, Prickle eventually gains their own Divine Artefact, the Divine Tiara which actually looks more like a halo. With this, they also unlock their Growth Map, giving you the potential to really leverage some extra strategies from Prickle.

Prickle’s Divine Artefact is unlocked by Defending the Secret Base. This quest is triggered after rescuing enough robots and returning them to the Secret Base.

As with other every companion, you should aim to unlock the Jewel Slot + and Tension skill first as they are a massive help. Beyond these, here are the core skills you should aim to get first:

  • Frenzy Hit 1 and 2. Extra Hits are great, especially when Funi hunting.
  • MP Cost Down. Many of Prickle’s skills are costly.
  • Counter Barrier. Being able to bring up a Barrier after being hit is a massive help.
  • Heal All. This saves a lot of time for not a lot of extra MP, and you’ll already have Heal Eff 1 by this point, making it even stronger.

These skills are more to boost Prickle’s defensive side, which we found to be the most helpful to get initially. As you gain levels, we would recommend you push towards Hack 1 and Charge as well. This gives Hack a chance of casting Death on an enemy, while Charge can make moves like Frenzy hit so much harder.
