Squirrel Girl Isn’t the Only Great Lakes Avenger That Could Shine in Marvel Rivals

Squirrel Girl Isn't the Only Great Lakes Avenger That Could Shine in Marvel Rivals

Through Marvel Rivals, players get to experience the sheer power of some of the most iconic superheroes around. They can unleash devastating lighting as Thor, bash their way through their enemies as Hulk, fly through the skies as Iron Man, or even bend metal to their will as Magneto. Whoever they wish to be, within certain limits, Marvel Rivals seems to offer them that experience. And although those characters are great to see, the title truly shines with its more obscure heroes.

One such character comes in the form of Marvel Rivals‘ Squirrel Girl, who communicates with squirrels to unleash destruction upon her enemies. As of now, she seems to quickly be becoming a Marvel Rivals‘ fan-favorite. Because of that, she should not be the only member of the Great Lakes Avengers who gets to be a part of the shooter’s roster. There are so many unique characters that make up this lesser-known team, and through Marvel Rivals, they could truly shine.

Marvel Rivals has a few notable snubs despite its relatively large and diverse roster, and new leaks may have given answers to one burning question.

Squirrel Girl’s Teammates Should Join the Marvel Rivals’ Roster

The Great Lakes Avengers Have a Wild Cast of Characters

The Great Lakes Avengers are a team of heroes that were first introduced back in 1989. Based in the Midwest, this team has been comprised of a lot of unique superheroes over the years, but there are a few that have mostly remained consistent. The team is often led by Mr. Immortal, who made his MCU debut in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Alongside him often comes Dinah Soar, Big Bertha, Flatman, and Doorman. While they may all have strange names, their powersets make them extremely powerful individuals.

Much like the core Avengers, the Great Lakes Avengers have also featured many temporary members, with Squirrel Girl being one of them. Along with her, heroes such as Monkey Joe, Grasshopper, Tippy-Toe, and even Deadpool have joined up. Additionally, even Mockingbird and Marvel Rivals‘ Hawkeye have helped out the team in the past. Because of those connections to Marvel Rivals‘ current roster, and the fact the game seems to be exploring the obscure, all of these characters could make fantastic additions to the hero pool.

Each Character Could Do Wonders in Marvel Rivals

While the Great Lakes Avengers may not make their MCU debut for a long time, they could shine in Marvel Rivals. Players could heal and protect others with Mr. Immortal, they could soar through the skies as Dinah Soar, they could shapeshift into all sorts of different things as Flatman, unleash death as Doorman, or protect their allies as Big Bertha. Characters such as Grasshopper could also come along, making for a unique set of characters.

One of the best parts of Marvel Rivals is that it delves into the more obscure side of the Marvel universe with the likes of Jeff the Land Shark and Luna Snow. Of course, NetEase Games will likely want to focus its efforts on some of the biggest heroes, as those are the most popular. But in between additions like Deadpool, the studio should really consider adapting some of these odder characters. It already has the likes of Squirrel Girl, so now it just needs to tap into this team further.

It may be a while before players get their hands on characters such as Big Bertha. If the Marvel Rivals‘ leaks are to be believed, there are a ton of exciting characters on the horizon for players to look forward to. As long as they maintain the polish as the launch roster, then players are in for a treat. And hopefully, as the game continues to grow, a few of the Great Lakes Avengers get their chance to shine in some way, even if it is simply as a cosmetic item.
