Although Bus Simulator 21 is a game that you can play alone, set up your own company and complete jobs, it is also possible to play online with your friends through multiplayer. To be able to play with friends, however, you will need to learn how to start your own session in the game.
Bus Simulator 21 does not explicitly inform you how to set up multiplayer, but the process is relatively simple once you know where to look. For those who are looking to get started on their business with their friends, here’s what you need to do to play online.

How to Set Up Multiplayer Session in Bus Simulator 21
When you first open up Bus Simulator 21, you’ll find ‘Continue’ (if you’ve played before), ‘Multiplayer’, and ‘New Game’ in the main menu. When you click on Multiplayer, you’ll notice that it is empty, and it will only let you search for available servers created by other players. If your friend has made a public one, you can search for theirs here. Some random people can also make their own public servers, meaning anyone can join. However, you can also make your own private server for ease.
To do this, start by either choosing ‘Continue’, or ‘New Game’. If you are starting a new game, you will first need to make sure you complete the tutorial and get your company going. Now, follow these steps:
- First, open up the map.
- At the very top, choose ‘Company Settings‘, which can be found on the right side.
- From here, navigate to ‘Server Settings‘. You can change the mode here, which includes ‘Private’, ‘Hidden’, and ‘Public’.
- Public will put your server on the main public list, while Hidden will only allow friends to join by the friends list. Private means that only pinned players can join.
- Then, if you want to invite friends, you can do so by navigating to ‘Lobby Management‘ just underneath. Click the invite button, and you can choose from your friends list.
- You can also set a password for your server in ‘Server Settings’, just underneath ‘Mode’. You can choose whatever you want, but you’ll need to make sure to give it to anyone you want to join.
How to Change Multiplayer Settings
You can also change the settings of this company through ‘Gameplay Settings‘, which includes making all players wear the same uniform, allowing them to purchase vehicles like a Mercedes, giving them speed tickets, and more.
Keep in mind, as well, that once you change this game from a single-player adventure to multiplayer, it will be permanently online. You won’t be able to go back to offline, though you can continue to play it alone if you choose Private.
Bus Simulator 21 is available to play on Epic Games Store, Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
