Livestock farming is a way to do business beyond agriculture in Farming Simulator 25. With various options available, caring for each type is different and produces unique products. Of course, making some profit out of them is the main goal.

Farming Simulator 25: How To Improve Your Crop Yield
If you’re looking for better crop yields in Farming Sim 25, you’re in the right place.
When farming crops, players have to deal with seasonal changes. Thus, relying on one form of crop isn’t an option. This is why livestock farming is required to keep the cash flow going. For this specific guide, we are going to discuss goat farming.
What Are The Requirements For Raising Goats?
Goats are very easy to deal with and require little to no effort. In Farming Simulator 25, there’s no existing area for herding, unlike plots for farming. Keep these key pointers in mind before you start your goat business:
- Getting water and food for goats.
- Building a goat pen and adding life to it.
- Keeping good health of goats.
- Getting goat milk and selling them.
- Market study to improve sales and get the best prices on goat milk.
You need to be aware of these things strictly to grow a booming business with goats.
How To Get Food and Water for Goats?
Dealing With The Food Situation
Goats have two food options: grass or hay. Both of which can be grown on your own farm or purchased from stores.
Grass and hay are very expensive when purchased from shops. It is best to grow them instead of buying them.
Grass can be grown any time of the year except between December to February. You have to maintain certain criteria to get a good output.
Feeding grass and hay gives the same productivity output with goats. Feeding your goats with grass, instead of drying them and turning them into hay, can be a time-saving option.
How To Grow Grass
- Buy seeds from a store and load them on a seeder of your choice with grass selected. Run the seeder through a plowed field and evenly spread it to cover the entire plot.
- Grass takes almost two to three months of time to give good yield. It is best to wait it out for three months as the yields increase.
- Harvest them using Mowers of your choice. If you’re planting on a huge field, using the KDD 941 STH Mower would be a good choice.
- After cutting grass, use a Tedder and run it over the field to turn cut grass into hay. Use Windrowers to keep cut grass or hay into one row to turn them into bales faster.
- After that, pick them up using a Baler to turn them into bales and pick them up for transfer. To transport your Bales, use a Bale Loader, which can be bought from stores. Carry the grass or hay to your goat pen and drop them near the food icon to fill the food resource.
Want a free boost to fertilization? Use grass rollers after mowing down and harvesting your grass field. This resets the grass’s growth process (which won’t matter since you just harvested) while applying a bonus 50 percent fertilization.
Keeping Your Goats Well Hydrated
Sheep Pastures require to be supplied with water manually. To get water, you’ll have to purchase a vehicular barrel. Go to the Vehicle Shop and purchase a barrel under the Animal category. After purchasing attach it to a vehicle, preferably a tractor.
Take the barrel attached to the tractor to a nearby water source like a river. Make sure the barrel is touching the water source barely to get the refill pop-up. Once the refill option pops up, press R or click Left Stick to fill the barrel with water. Take the filled barrel to your goat pen and keep it on the water drop symbol to get an option for dumping it.
Building A Home For Goats To Get Yields
It’s unlikely to already own a goat pen in Farming Simulator 25 when starting out. Don’t worry, as the game allows you to build one yourself using the in-game build mode. You can access the build mode by pressing Shift+P while free roaming.
In the build mode, click on the cow icon to open the Animal Pasture menu. You can find pens for Sheep (same for goat) on the fourth tab. These are the options you’ll get for purchasing:
Items |
Price |
Holding Capacity |
Sheep Pasture |
$14,000 |
16 |
Sheep Barn 1 |
$48,000 |
26 |
Sheep Barn 2 |
$51,000 |
26 |
Large Sheep Barn |
$97,000 |
68 |
If you don’t want any hassle with manual water supply, try to purchase a Barn. They automatically provide water. It is best you purchase a Large Sheep Barn to accumulate many goats. If you’re short on budget and want to try out this side of business, purchasing a Sheep Pasture would be enough.
In order to fill your goat pasture, go near the floating animal paw symbol and interact with it by pressing R or Left Stick. You’ll be displayed with a new interface for purchasing or selling goats or sheep.
Under the inbound sub-menu, you’ll need to purchase goats. If you wish to breed them as fast as possible, buy 16-month-old goats. However, they are expensive to purchase, so if you have time to grow and care for them, try buying goats that are three months old.
You pay a transport fee if you’re purchasing or selling goats directly from your Pasture or Barn. To avoid this fee, go to an animal dealer with your own animal transport equipment and buy/sell them that way.
How To Make Goat Pastures Self-Sustaining
You can build a custom goat pen on naturally growing grass fields which contribute towards feeding, making it self-sustaining. Alternatively, you can also place your pens on farm plots with grown grass to even greater effect. This will make the farm self-sustaining as the grass will regrow without needing to be maintained.
When you’re placing a goat pen on an existing grass farm plot, you’ll get a pop-up saying “Do you want to plant meadow for Sheep Barn.” Be sure to select NO, else then you’ll replace the farmland grass with meadow grass.
Goat pastures and barns are not limited by holding capacity if you can build custom fences. The larger the area you designate, the more goats you can hold. To maximize goat capacity and grass yield, you can surround the entire grass plot.
Selling Goat Milk For Profit
You can get milk from goats after they reach puberty. In Farming Simulator 25, goats reach their puberty once they are 16 months old. Additionally, you need to keep them in good health by feeding and caring for them on a regular basis.
Goats need to be kept at 100 percent healthy to get the most produce. Make sure to check on them regularly for food and water reserves.
Produced milk canisters can be found near the yellow-taped area near the goat pasture or barn.
Before selling them, make sure to check the Price Calendar in the financial menu.
Goat milk is packed on crates that can be sold to various sellers. To take them to sellers, you’ll need to use a pallet lifting device. If you don’t own one, go to a Vehicle Shop nearby and pick one that fits your needs.
Things that can lift pallets:
- Forklifts
- Front loaders, skid steer loaders, telehandlers, and wheel loaders (if you attach the separate pallet attachment)
- Tractors with a front loader attachment and the pallet head.
It would be inefficient to pick each crate and take them to sellers to make money. Instead, use a Trailer to carry them to sellers by attaching it to Tractors. Look for flatbed options that allow for easy placement of pallets. Many trailers intended for bales work perfectly for pallets.
Load the goat milk crates on the trailer and fasten them to keep them secured. After loading the trailer, you can take them to sellers manually or create a job for AI workers.
Additionally, you can also process goat milk using production facilities to get products like goat cheese, and bottled goat milk. These can sold to make more profit than selling the raw resource.
AI Workers can sometimes be unreliable. If you want, you can do it yourself or ask your friend if you’re playing multiplayer.
Strategies To Follow When Farming For Goats
Goat milk reaches its peak price in October. It is also in high demand between January to March. It is best to sell them in October, as selling rates are around $9,222. Avoid selling them between May to August, as the rates are below average.
Healthy goats that have hit puberty produce 25 liters of goat milk every month. It might be surprising, but goats that are three months old can produce at a rate of five liters per month.
Goats that are 16 months old will produce offspring after every five months. After producing offspring, try to sell off a few mature goats to make space for new ones. Additionally, keeping too many mature goats will increase the population exponentially, so if you intend to sell goats for profit, maintain the number of goats at half or a bit above half of the holding capacity.
Goats 36 months old or older sell for the highest rate of $1,000. This is twice the value of a 16-month-old goat.
