To date, it remains the most popular the game has ever been, despite Deadside evolving in the years since. Developer Bad Pixel has made great use of Early Access for Deadside, taking as much time as it needs throughout the process while remaining committed to its development. Plenty of Early Access titles fall on either side of the extreme – either rushing out of Early Access before it’s ready, or simply never making it out at all. It seems that Deadside has gotten it just right.

In recent months, the game has very rarely broken the 1,000-player mark and very frequently dropped under 500 concurrent players. However, post-release, Deadside has reached a peak of 3,593 concurrent players, a number that is still growing at the time of writing. Whether this will be enough to cement Deadside as one of the best survival games in the eyes of the community is yet to be seen. Its “Mostly Positive” reviews on Steam suggest the game is popular with players so far.
Post-launch, Bad Pixel has confirmed that it plans to “improve and update Deadside for as long as we have a community to support. Leaving early access won’t be changing that.” It has also asked for community ideas for future Deadside content, although it hasn’t provided a long-term roadmap for what is to come.
