There have been rumors about a new Lenovo Legion Gohandheld gaming device for quite some time, but now it looks like we may have an idea of what it will look like through leaked renders. Previously, it was reported that the upcoming handheld will be a smaller and more budget-friendly version of the Lenovo Legion Go, and that it will be called the Lenovo Legion Go S. It is believed that this handheld will be powered by the new AMD Z2 platform, the successor to the chip inside the original Legion Go.

Lenovo Legion Go S Leaked Renders
The renders, said to be “confirmed as genuine” by sources, come from Windows Central, and they show a compact white handheld that looks quite different from the original Legion Go. It is more rounded on the sides, similar to the ROG Ally, and comes with two sections of perforations on the back, more on that later.
The screen will supposedly be 7 inches, and appears to be flanked by two joysticks that have RGB rings around them, a D-Pad, and the face buttons. The speaker grills are at the front, facing the user, and follow the same hexagonal pattern as the vents on the back. On the top, there seem to be two USB Type-C ports, a headphone jack, the power button, and exhaust vents.
The original Legion Go came in a single black color, so it’s interesting to see a cheaper white variant in the works. Also, the newer model doesn’t seem to have the detachable controllers that made the Legion Go stand out from the crowd.
Coming to the processor, the Legion Go S is said to be powered by the Z2G APU “Rembrandt” configuration. It is less performant than the Z1E chip present in the original Legion Go and the ROG Ally X. The lower power output and consumption will make it easier to be cooled inside a smaller chassis with seemingly great ventilation.

Lenovo Legion Go S Leaks So Far
As mentioned earlier, there are two sets of perforations on the back of the alleged Legion Go S. This adds some weight to expectations of a dual-fan cooling system, which was either accidentally revealed by Lenovo’s official Legion Go product page or a mistake on the website. Regardless, the Legion Go comes with a single cooling fan, so having two on a more budget-friendly model is surprising, at the least.
The product page also mentioned a 7-inch display and an HDMI port, neither of which applied to the original handheld. However, these points of information suggesting a new 7-inch Legion Go handheld have been removed from the product page. Furthermore, a Lenovo employee shared on a Reddit post discussing the new handheld that the information on the product page was not correct, and could have used better proofreading.
Does that mean we should table the discussion about a new budget-friendly Legion Go S? With the official looking renders popping up now, and the fact that Lenovo has already confirmed it will eventually have a next-generation handheld, the existence of the Legion Go S seems legit. Of course, there is no timeline for launch, and Lenovo has not shared a name or any information yet, so take this with a grain of salt.
