Key Takeaways
- Wolverine’s MCU skin in Marvel Rivals includes an MVP animation inspired by a scene from Deadpool And Wolverine.
- When Wolverine is MVP in his MCU skin, he tears through a bus and jumps out of the back window.
- It looks almost identical to when Wolverine does the same thing during the MCU movie’s final fight.
Marvel Rivals is officially here and I’d hazard to guess some of you have already logged a fair few hours into the live service hero shooter. You may even be taking a quick break to browse social media and see what else has been going on in the game outside of your own Rivals bubble. You might not even know that if you use Wolverine while in his MCU skin, he’ll tear through a bus Deadpool & Wolverine-style whenever he’s the MVP.
It was known before Rivals’ launch that there would be plenty of crossover between the game and the MCU with many of the heroes and villains who have appeared on the big screen bringing skins that mirror their cinematic looks. Wolverine is one of those characters having made his long overdue debut in the MCU earlier this year. If he’s wearing his blue and yellow suit from that movie, he’ll replicate an iconic moment from it should your Rivals performance be good enough.

Rivals launched at 7 pm EST on Thursday and it didn’t take long for streamer TenZ (shared on Twitter by mmmmmmmmiller) to discover Wolverine’s special MCU animation. The character is obscured from view at first, fighting his way through a bus leaving adamantium claw marks as he goes. The X-Man then bursts out of the back of the bus at which point the footage freezes so he can be declared MVP and the player’s stats can be flaunted in the bottom corner of the screen.
Wolverine’s MCU Skin In Marvel Rivals Goes Beyond Looks Alone
It Also Includes An MVP Animation Pulled Directly From Deadpool & Wolverine
The animation is a reference to the final fight in Marvel’s summer blockbuster, Deadpool & Wolverine. Faced with an army of Deadpools pulled from across the multiverse, the fight ends with the OG Deadpool and Wolverine killing countless Deadpools inside of a bus before the two of them leap spectacularly out of the bus’s back window. The Marvel Rivals version is an exact recreation of that moment, minus Deadpool, of course, since he isn’t on the Rivals roster.
Even though Deadpool isn’t a part of the game at launch, it does seem like it’s a matter of when rather than if the merc with a mouth joins Wolverine in Rivals. Not only have its devs confirmed Rivals season will run for 13 weeks and new ones will introduce new characters, but Deadpool was the second favorite in a fan poll devs used to gauge who players would like to see join the game in the future. Ghost Rider came out on top.
