Investigate an ancient castle overrun by the undead in Black Ops 6’s Citadelle des Morts map, and here’s how to beat the Easter Egg.
Each of the Bastard Swords has its own unique name, associated quest, and upgrade, and players can find just how to get the Bastard Sword in Citadelle des Morts below to allow everyone to enjoy the thrills of hacking, slashing, and parrying against the undead hordes.
Step 1: Open the Castle and Activate Pack-a-Punch
The first thing players should do to get the Bastard Sword is to open the map up as soon as possible so that they can turn on the Pack-a-Punch Machine, which in turn will allow players to activate the next steps for the easter egg as well as provide players with the secret Alchemical Lab room that connects the Dining Hall and the Sitting Rooms. Accessing Pack-a-Punch will cost around 7,500 Points in total, so try to get the routes open before Round 10.
The main room that players want to have access to inside the castle is the Dining Hall. In this room, players will find Vulture Aid, along with four stone statues of knights, which will be further explained in the steps to follow.
Step 2: Kill a Templar Helmet Zombie After Round 10+
While roaming the castle and the entire map of Citadelle des Morts, there is a random chance for a zombie to spawn wearing the helmet of a Templar knight. This can only happen on Round 10 and after, and the Templar knight zombie is essential for the Bastard Sword, as killing it will drop a Stamp. Players can then pick up the Stamp, which is essentially the key to unlocking a Bastard Sword. For those struggling to get the Templar zombie to spawn, make sure that it’s on Round 10+, and explore the castle waiting for one to spawn. Templar zombies are not connected to the main horde and are separate zombies that will spawn randomly.
Step 3: Use the Stamp to Interact with Any Stone Knight Statue
With the Stamp acquired, head into the Dining Hall where players will be faced with four knight statues, with each of them harboring a different crest. The crest on each knight indicates what sword upgrade players can get if they use the Stamp on the statues. Players don’t need to think too hard about what sword they want, as everyone, solo players included, can get all 4 swords in a single game.
To make it easier to see what statue provides what sword, the image above details the name of each knight that players can interact with. The table below might also provide some assistance to those who need it:
Knight Statue |
Sword Variant |
Location |
Stag Knight |
Durendal (Electric) |
Front Left of the room, in front of some wooden boxes |
Raven Knight |
Bulmang (Dark) |
Back Left of the room, with dragon graffiti behind it |
Dragon Knight |
Caliburn (Fire) |
Front Right of the room, with a red couch behind it |
Lion Knight |
Solais (Light) |
Back Right of the room, with a red crystal above it |
Once players have interacted with the knight of their choosing, they just need to approach the knight who will be holding out their blade. Players can then equip the blade, which will replace their dedicated melee weapon. To equip the Bastard Sword, players will need to Hold R3. Players can also return to the sword to the statue if they want to return to their original dedicated melee weapon, or to trade it out for a new Bastard Sword.
The Bastard Swords can be made even stronger if players use the
Melee Macchiato Perk-a-Cola
, found in the Courtyard room leading to the Village Ramparts.
