There are a lot of villages and settlements in Caves of Qud, with many involving unique quests for you to complete. In the small mushroom village of Kyakukya, you’ll find a warden who needs your help, which is tied to the quest called Raising Indrix. This is a side quest, but the rewards are quite good.

In this guide, we are going to take a look at how you can complete Raising Indrix, which ultimately requires you to find and kill Mamon Souldrinker. Finding him is no easy task, so we will go over how to easily find this NPC, who proves to be quite a formidable foe.
How To Start Raising Indrix
To start Raising Indrix, you’ll first need to make your way to Kyakukya. On the map, this village looks like a little cluster of mushrooms. We’ve marked it on the map above; you can find it east of Joppa, near the bottom of the river on the left side of the map. Prior to visiting, it will still appear on the map, making it easy to find it.
Once in Kyakukya, you’ll need to find Warden Indrix, who stands near the top of the village. Right as you talk to him for the first time, you can accept Raising Indrix; there is nothing that you need to complete beforehand.
The main goal of this quest is to find the Amaranthine Prism, which Mamon Souldrinker has. The exact location of Mamon is not marked on the map; you’ll need to explore and find him yourself. Rather than doing this from the world map, you’ll need to go screen by screen.
Where To Find Mamon Souldrinker
Starting from Kyakukya, head directly south (from the village itself, not the world map). This will put you in an area with a river. The trek is a bit long, but overall, you will need to follow the river as it flows east.
Head from screen to screen, going to the right. At a certain point, the river may curve downwards; continue following it. When you are close by, you’ll eventually come across a hut that belongs to Mamon. There is a chest inside that you can loot from, which won’t trigger any attacks from creatures. Inside, we found some books and armor.
When you are one screen away from Mamon, you’ll start to see smoke drifting up from the area where he is. Continue to follow the river this way until you reach the Lair of Mamon Souldrinker.
How To Get The Amaranthine Prism
Once you make it to Mamon, you’ll get a pop-up noting that you made it to his lair. The prism can’t just be traded or given by Mamon; you’ll need to kill him.
Mamon will more than likely be hostile unless you happen to have enough reputation with the Children of Mamon. At this point though, you probably won’t have enough reputation to make him neutral, so it’s time to battle! It’s impossible to get the prism off of Mamon so ultimately, he has to die.
Prior to entering Mamon’s lair, we suggest eating a meal that may help you conserve HP during the battle. If you have any thrown weapons, be sure to equip them as well.
Mamon is tough, but he doesn’t have the widest variety of attacks. You’ll just need to continue attacking Mamon while running away (or sprinting) if you need a break. Here at TheGamer, we kited around while shooting at him and used grenades every once in a while.
We found other creatures in the area that were hostile to Mamon, so you may be able to lure him over to them in order to gain these temporary allies. Overall, ranged weapons are the way to go if you aren’t too confident and don’t have a lot of HP.
How To Finish Raising Indrix
At this point, you can loot the prism from Mamon’s corpse and then head back to Kyakukya. By speaking to Indrix, you can hand over the Amaranthine Prism and complete the quest. As a reward, you’ll get to choose from a variety of weapons, and receive a few artifacts. Additionally, you’ll get a lot of XP for completing the quest.
When speaking to Warden Indrix, you’ll also have the option to attack him. We didn’t choose this option, but once you do decide to attack, Indrix will become hostile. If you want to complete the quest and get the rewards, then we recommend handing the prism over to Indrix.
If you equip the Amaranthine Prism and talk to Warden Indrix, he will become hostile towards you. This item cannot be removed if you equip it; the prism will decrease your willpower and increase your ego. Eventually, the prism will cause you to die.
