By helping them with personal favors, you can restore these lost identities and learn more about the island and the secrets it holds. One of the first people you’ll meet is Hermes, the messenger of the gods. Here’s everything you need to know to help him recover his former self and solve the island mystery!

How To Unlock Hermes

Hermes on the dock worried about the other islanders.

Right after meeting Ora, the Oracle, you’ll head off to find Hermes at her request. He can be found on the western beach, down by the docks. You’ll spot his seaplane in the water, though it’s a bit worse for wear.

When you first arrive, it will be late at night. Hermes won’t be out and about, so you’ll have to wait.

Head to the lighthouse to rest, then find Hermes first thing in the morning. He’ll be just outside his seaplane in the corner of the docks. When you talk to him, he’s apprehensive. As you continue to speak, however, he begins to open up to you.

Hermes Friendship Level One

To reach friendship level one with Hermes, you need to do a favor for him. He gives you a bag of dried dates and asks that you feed the seagulls around the island. They’re his friends and could use a snack.

With the dates in your backpack, all you need to do is walk up to the different seagulls and interact with them. You’ll give them a snack and they’ll be grateful!

All seagulls in unlocked areas are marked on your map! You should be able to find them around the beaches just by exploring.

You won’t be able to feed every seagull with the dates, though, as there aren’t enough. Once you run out of dates, return to Hermes. He’ll then ask you to find lost mementos using your Ambrosiadex radar.

There are two for you to find around the island:

Memento Name

Location

Worn Sandals

Behind a hidden door on the westernmost beach.

Leather Satchel

Among the pottery beside the locked tower door.

Bring Hermes the mementos, then talk with him about the memories he’s recovered. He’ll reach level one friendship, which will allow you to enter his home and swap ambrosia fruit with him.

You can now visit Hermes at any hour, making it a lot easier to befriend him.

Hermes Friendship Level Two

As soon as you leave the discussion menu after reaching level one, Hermes will tell you about the additional snacks he made for the seagulls. You can grab a bag of stuffed olives from inside the seaplane, then head out to find some more seagulls.

You can find them along the beaches and inside the temple, now that you can open the way with Hermes’ seal.

You’ll find the seagulls on barrels, tucked away in corners or some harder to reach places. Don’t worry if you can’t find them all yet! You only need to feed another six seagulls to reach the next friendship level.

Also, you’ll need to find new mementos for Hermes to recover his lost self. Below are the mementos for Hermes and where to find them:

Memento Name

Location

Winged Sandals

The well in Ares’ orchard.

Winged Staff

On the eastern beaches, down south of the docks by a chill out spot.

Winged Helm

On the eastern side of the temple, above the entrance to Aphrodite’s Gardens.

Bring everything to Hermes to help him unlock new memories and reach level three friendship!

Hermes Friendship Level Three

To max out Hermes’ friendship level, you’ll have to collect the last set of mementos and finish feeding all the seagulls on the island. Talk to Hermes and collect the bag of honey doughnuts from inside the seaplane.

Any seagulls you haven’t fed yet will be marked on your map with a bird icon. Don’t forget to check by your lighthouse!

From there, you’ll need the remaining mementos. Here’s what you need to find for Hermes:

Memento Name

Location

Beach Sandals

In the sandbag on the right of the lift in Zeus and Hera’s sun lounge.

Beach Mat

On the waterwheel closest to Hephaestus’ workshop.

Once everything is complete, return to Hermes to fully restore his memories. As a thank you, Hermes will grant you his soulstone!
