Adorable Couch Co-Op Game ‘Wild Woods’ Shares New Screenshots [EXCLUSIVE]

Game Rant can exclusively share new Wild Woods gameplay screenshots. This latest glimpse into the game arrives just ahead of its December 2024 Steam launch.

Wild Woods is a couch co-op experience developed by Octofox Games, an indie studio based out of Hamburg, Germany. It features some adorable character art and puts players in the shoes of a brave group of adventuring cats traveling through a magical forest with a wooden wagon. Wild Woods is scheduled to launch as part of the Steam Early Access program on Monday, December 9.

Ahead of its debut, publisher Daedalic Entertainment shared some new Wild Woods screenshots, which Game Rant can now exclusively reveal. The images provide a concise overview of the Wild Woods gameplay loop, which alternates between combat, resource gathering, wagon upgrades, and route selection. Since this is a couch co-op experience first and foremost, success will hinge on well-planned and skillfully executed teamwork.

Wild Woods Early Access Version Promises Decent Amount of Content

While its Early Access label means the game is technically unfinished, Wild Woods still promises to offer a decent amount of content on day one. The initial build will feature two biomes, 46 character and wagon upgrades, 15 unique cat skins, 30 challenges, 20 achievements, and three difficulty levels. That’s without accounting for the three exclusive kitten skins and two wagon skins that are planned to be offered as part of the game’s Supporter Pack. In terms of enemies, six types of mobs will be available at launch, and each Wild Woods biome will include one boss.

Wild Woods Minimum PC System Requirements

The early access couch co-op game is currently eyeing a full-fledged release in late 2025 or early 2026, though that launch window is tentative. Octofox said it intends to incorporate a lot of player feedback into its future updates, which could lead to Wild Woods staying in early access for a bit longer. Anyone wanting to help shape the game moving forward is encouraged to join the Wild Woods Discord server, where they will be able to add to-do cards to Octofox’s feedback system, as well as track their submissions to see if and when they’ve been acknowledged by the development team. The German studio said it will strive to share one devlog per month updating the community on its progress.

The Steam version of Wild Woods will only be playable on Windows machines. It’s currently unclear whether Octofox intends to port its debut title to other platforms.
