Key Takeaways
- Xur brings new exotics to Destiny 2 over the weekend, located inside the Tower Bazaar.
- For weapons this week, Xur has Sweet Business, a new Hawkmoon roll, The Colony, and Graviton Lance.
- Xur’s inventory includes exotic armor like Promethium Spur, Ophidia Spathe, Dunemarchers, and other legendary gear.
Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. The next major event is on the way next week as The Dawning returns to Destiny 2 for the holiday season. Baking cookies as a gameplay mechanic is back, though for this year, three rare emblems are on the line as the community is tasked with reaching baking milestones in a new Community Challenge.
Unfortunately, Destiny 2 continues to be plagued with bugs and other issues that the community continues to discover. While the game is already planning fixes for a couple of super abilities that are hitting much harder than normal, this past week an issue was discovered with Destiny 2 Tonics, where they are not granting their weapon drop rate bonus. Specifically, players noticed that Tomb of Elders drop rate tonics were impacting the wrong weapons, something which Bungie has confirmed and is working on fixing.

For now though, the weekend merchant Xur is back with a new inventory of gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of December 6, 2024.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar area inside The Tower, so there’s no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar is located between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur’s Exotic Armor
Promethium Spur – Warlock leg armor
Exotic Perk:
- Embers of Light – Daybreak final blows create a healing and empowering Rift at the target’s location. While a Solar Super is equipped, Solar weapon final blows grant Rift energy; standing in a Rift increases this energy. Final blows while in a Rift consume class ability energy to create a healing and empowering Rift at the target’s location.
Regardless of what players think of this exotic armor, the roll this weekend is very tough to recommend, coming in at a very low 61 overall.
Stat Values (61 Total):
- Mobility +10
- Resilience +10
- Recovery +10
- Discipline +9
- Intellect +15
- Strength +7
Ophidia Spathe – Hunter chest armor
Exotic Perk:
- Scissor Fingers – Gain a second knife per charge. Getting a final blow with a throwing knife grants consecutive knives a temporary stacking damage bonus. Gambler’s Dodge refreshes the bonus timer.
A solid exotic that isn’t flashy compared to some other options. Basically, it gives players a second thrownig knife for solar subclasses and for those with a bit of skill, they can increase their damage after a final blow. The roll isn’t great this week, so this isn’t a must buy.
Stat Values (63 Total):
- Mobility +20
- Resilience +11
- Recovery +3
- Discipline +17
- Intellect +2
- Strength +10
Dunemarchers – Titan leg armor
Exotic Perk:
- Linear Actuators – Increases sprint speed. Sprinting builds up a static charge. After melee-attacking an enemy, that charge will chain damage to nearby enemies.
Technically the best of the exotics this week, even though that isn’t saying much as this one caps out at a 64 overall. Players could definitely do better, though one positive is that the roll is pretty evenly distributed here, without any major stat peaks or valleys, making them easier to customize without sacrificing stats.
Stat Values (64 total):
- Mobility +11
- Resilience +11
- Recovery +12
- Discipline +6
- Intellect +10
- Strength +14
