Wuthering Waves from Kuro Games has been awarded the winner of the ‘Mobile Game Of The Year’ at the GamingonPhone Awards 2024. The popular fast-paced action RPG beat seven other nominations to emerge as the winner in the ceremony that was unveiled on the 6th of December 2024.
The GamingonPhone Awards is an annual award show hosted by GamingonPhone which serves as a testament to the collective passion and dedication exhibited by the entire industry to captivate and entertain audiences. A total of 30 categories, part of both the B2C and B2B sides, were awarded. For the first time this year, a Jury Panel was part of the selection process in the Awards Ceremony.
Wuthering Waves became a massive hit since its release
First announced in 2022, Wuthering Waves was launched on May 22, 2024, on Mobile and PC. Despite facing some backlash from fans due to issues like serious translation errors, the game quickly gained popularity and became a massive hit. It reached 30 million downloads and a whopping $36 million in revenue in the first month. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 on January 2, 2025.
The Mobile Game of the Year for 2024 award celebrates a mobile game’s remarkable impact, showcasing how it redefined the possibilities of handheld gaming. With the criteria of a 2024 release, Wuthering Waves’ innovative design and gameplay set a new benchmark and was lauded by players and critics.
Wuthering Waves competed with seven other stellar titles that were released this year. Honor of Kings, Zenless Zone Zero, AFK Journey, Heroes of History, One Punch Man: World, Fall Guys Mobile, and Blood Strike were the other nominees.
Apart from winning the title of Mobile Game of the Year, Wuthering Waves also garnered nominations in several other prestigious categories at the GamingonPhone Awards 2024 including Visual Spectacle of the Year, Players’ Choice Mobile Game of the Year, and Mobile Game Update of the Year.
