The First Descendant Season 2 is underway, bringing new characters and missions to the free Steam game. It’s a great time to jump back in if you’ve been away or were waiting for a reason to start, but there are a few small problems that developer Nexon Games is angling to fix as soon as possible. These include some progression blockers and an unclear unlock requirement for the new dungeon. There’s also compensation for players after discounts were not properly applied to some of the new store bundles.
The First Descendant Season 2 has arrived, and it introduces newcomer Keelan to the roster alongside the much-awaited enhancement to everyone’s favorite stealth specialist, Ultimate Sharen. There’s also a new dungeon to tackle in the free Steam game, but there’s been some confusion around how to unlock it. The Void Vessel is required to unlock several new additions in The First Descendant, including Keelan and the new dog companion (the first ‘Fellow’).
“Due to unclear quest guidance, many players have misunderstood that they must complete the Data Recorder Collection stage to progress,” Nexon writes. “This has caused difficulties for many players attempting to complete the quest.” To actually unlock the dungeon, you must complete the tutorial quest, Unidentified Void Vessel Exploration Mission, and then head to the Void Vessel Operations Terminal.
Patch 1.2.0c will aim to clear things up by improving the visibility of the Void Vessel Recording Device, correctly redirecting you to the appropriate terminal, and turning the Collect Recording Devices mission into a side quest. “These changes aim to clearly distinguish quests that are not mandatory and help players easily recognize that they can already play Void Vessel operations.”
Season 2 also makes a change to The First Descendant skin bundles, allowing players to buy all items individually should they wish. However, Nexon says it’s “identified an issue where discounts were not properly applied when purchasing the Fellow Bundle while already owning some of the included items.” This problem will also be resolved in patch 1.2.0c, and Caliber spent in error will be refunded.
As a “token of apology,” all players who log in between now and Thursday December 12 will receive a Crystallization Catalyst in their mailbox. Nexon has already pushed out another update (1.2.0b) that resolved a handful of other issues that were preventing progression in some of the update’s new missions, so if you were stuck on a particular quest step at launch you may want to check again.
The First Descendant patch 1.2.0c is scheduled to release on Friday December 6 at 7pm PT / 10pm ET (that’s Saturday December 7 at 3am GMT / 4am CET). You can check the full details courtesy of Nexon Games.
