Planet Robobot Is Reportedly Getting Ported To Switch

Key Takeaways

  • A reliable insider has claimed that Nintendo is porting Kirby: Planet Robobot to Switch in 2025.
  • It’s not clear just yet whether this will be an enhanced remaster with extra content or a straightforward port.
  • Let’s pour one out for the oft-overlooked Kirby: Triple Deluxe.

A reliable insider has claimed that Nintendo is planning to port Kirby‘s best 3DS game, Planet Robobot, to the Switch at some point in 2025, despite Triple Deluxe coming before it and not yet having received a remaster.

As every Nintendo fan is painfully aware of, we’re all waiting anxiously for the House that Mario Built to finally announce the successor to the Nintendo Switch. While it seemed for a while like it might happen in 2024, that’s rapidly looking like it won’t be the case, leaving Nintendo with a somewhat drier and more remaster-filled schedule than usual.

Next year, things are kicking off with a remaster of Donkey Kong Country Returns, while it’s long been rumoured that Nintendo is sitting on remasters of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Well, it looks like we can prepare to add another port to the Switch’s lineup in 2025, as a reliable insider has claimed that Kirby is next in line.

Kirby: Planet Robobot Is Reportedly Coming To Switch Next Year

Things have been a little quiet for the pink puffball lately, but according to insider Nate the Hate (thanks Nintendo Everything), 2025 will see his return with a port of his best 3DS game – Kirby: Planet Robobot. Nate the Hate didn’t reveal much more about the port other than the fact that it’s coming next year, but it does seem like a reasonable rumour to believe.

Nate the Hate also talks about the Switch 2’s potential reveal timing and says that he’s heard it could happen in May. Considering how many reportes there are floating around about the Switch 2’s reveal, it’s best to wait and see with this one.

While it’s possible that Kirby: Planet Robobot will simply be ported to the Switch without any extra bells and whistles, it seems more likely it’ll follow in Return to Dreamland’s footsteps and offer a bit of extra content. Nintendo doesn’t often remaster things without a bit of effort put in, after all.

As happy as I am to hear that Planet Robobot could be getting a re-release, it is a little odd that Triple Deluxe, the first proper 3DS Kirby game, is seemingly being skipped. While Robobot is the more popular of the two, it surely makes sense to start with Triple Deluxe and then do Robobot. We’ll have to wait and see what Nintendo has in store.
