Monster Hunter Wilds Devs Focussed On What Made World Great

Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Is The Third-Highest Played Game This Year

Monster Hunter World was a landmark game not only for the series, but for Capcom overall. The overall improvement in quality brought in loads of new players to a relatively niche series, making it the company’s all-time top-selling game. There were a lot of new elements that contributed to this, and the devs want to expand on them in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capcom’s blockbuster is already attracted hundreds of thousands of people. And that’s just the open beta…

While we’ve seen that Wilds looks graphically better than World and includes a number of new features thanks to the open beta test, like the Seikret mounts and the ability to swap weapons. However, we’ll have to wait till February 2025 to see all the new and improved features Monster Hunter Wilds includes.

A Wild New World

“It’s true, World has reached quite a lot of people,” said executive director Kaname Fujioka to PC Gamer via an interpreter. “Seeing people become fans of the game means a lot to us, because through Monster Hunter, we’re able to express the game design and creativity that we value so much. And for people around the world to really understand it has really given us a lot of confidence.”

Considering how well Monster Hunter World performed, it’s not surprising to see that the dev team has adapted certain features from the game for the upcoming installment. “As for Wilds, we’re really expanding on the parts that were appreciated in World and taking it even further.”

As for what features we’ll be seeing from previous Monster Hunter games, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto told us that the team hasn’t ruled out bringing back tools like the Wire Bug and Clutch Claw.

When asked about whether these tools will return, Tsujimoto said that the teamtakes such decisions based on the designs of the Monsters. “So whether the functions that we have in past titles will make it into future titles, we obviously don’t know at this point. Maybe some will, maybe some won’t. We really can’t tell because it obviously depends on what is the best fit for each title.”
