Marvel Rivals has officially launched with 33 playable heroes. This is a pretty impressive number to launch with, especially considering the roster has a healthy dose of diversity. Despite this, there are still some notable snubs from the Marvel Rivals roster, including a few characters that had been widely rumored throughout the game’s development cycle.
The Fantastic Four are often known as the “First Family” of Marvel, which left some fans scratching their hands when they were never revealed in the lead up to Marvel Rivals‘ launch. With the upcoming release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, it seemed even more likely that they would receive some major focus sooner than later. Although they didn’t make it in time for launch, a new Marvel Rivals leak has reportedly revealed that Mr. Fantastic will eventually join the fray after all, and it can be assumed he’ll be one of several Fantastic additions.

Marvel Rivals’ Mr. Fantastic Leaks Could Finally Pave the Way for The Fantastic Four
Marvel Rivals’ Mr. Fantastic Leak is Extensive
Of course, this leak has yet to be confirmed, but it certainly can’t be written off either. Previous Marvel Rivals leaks have had a stunning track record, with one early datamine revealing the entire launch roster months in advance. The leak regarding Mr. Fantastic comes from a similarly reputable source, and even goes a step further than any datamine.
This round of leaks has revealed much more than many of the previous rumors. While others simply included a character’s name in the code, and occasionally the names of their abilities, Mr. Fantastic has seemingly leaked in full. The images posted by RivalsLeaks put Reed Richards’ design on full display, and even include some details about his abilities.

Mr. Fantastic is a DPS Hero with Tank Gameplay
Every Marvel Rivals character fills one of three roles: Duelist, Vanguard, and Strategist. Despite what one might expect from the genius inventor, Mister Fantastic is reportedly listed as a Duelist. With that said, Mister Fantastic still isn’t as focused on DPS as many other Duelists are. In fact, many of his abilities are more reminiscent of the more tanky Vanguard role, suggesting that Mr. Fantastic could be somewhat of a hybrid hero.
Mr. Fantastic will wield three skills in his kit if the leaks prove true: Reflexive Rubber, Flexible Elongation, and Rubber Grip. Reflexive Rubber allows Reed to absorb damage before reflecting it back in a certain direction. Flexible Elongation functions as a dash that allows him to damage enemies while giving bonus health to his allies. Rubber Grip stuns enemies it strikes, and can selectively move two other enemies. Of course, damage reduction, healing allies, and crowd control are all staples of any tank’s kit.
Mr. Fantastic is said to be a melee hero, but his elastic anatomy should allow him to sidestep the issues faced by similar characters. Mr. Fantastic features a Passive ability called Elastic Strength, which is no doubt the star of his kit. Using other skills generates Elasticity, and reaching max Elasticity will send Mr. Fantastic into an inflated state that gains bonus health and deals additional damage. Whether Mr. Fantastic boasts one of Marvel Rivals‘ many Team-Up combos or not has yet to be seen.
Mr. Fantastic’s Inclusion in Marvel Rivals Will Have Huge Implications for Future Additions
Mr. Fantastic is only one member of the famous superhero team, and it seems very likely that his teammates shouldn’t be far behind. In fact, subsequent Marvel Rivals leaks revealed The Human Torch as well, with a similar level of detail given to his design and abilities. As soon as any member of The Fantastic Four is officially confirmed, the other three following seems like a foregone conclusion.
The Fantastic Four may be coming even sooner than expected. The official trailer for Marvel Rivals‘ Season 0: Dooms’ Rise featured a blink-and-you’ll miss it look at The Fantastic Four’s logo. With the first season around a month away, it’s very possible that The Fantastic Four could serve as some of the very first additions to the game’s roster.
As much as it seems odd not to include any members of The Fantastic Four at launch, their upcoming addition to Marvel Rivals could be perfect timing. The Fantastic Four: First Steps will release shortly after Marvel Rivals, so cross-promotion between the two of them is only natural. Marvel needs this film to be successful in order to regenerate public interest in its cinematic universe, and Marvel Rivals may not be a bad place to gain momentum.
