Marvel Rivals' MCU Wolverine Skin May Add Insult to Injury in The Long Run

Marvel Rivals is officially out, and many players are already enjoying the plethora of heroes and challenges. The team-based PvP shooter features an all-star cast of characters with compelling individual and team-up abilities that players can utilize in battle. Plus, considering the vastness of the Marvel universe, Marvel Rivals is also making sure to bring in more characters and even skins from various media.

At launch, Marvel Rivals fans can already play 33 characters, including the ever-popular Wolverine from the X-Men franchise. Recently, it was revealed that players can purchase Wolverine’s iconic blue and yellow suit from Deadpool and Wolverine, which was met with a lot of praise from people who were happy to see Hugh Jackman’s rendition of the character in the game. However, Marvel Rivals is also missing one important thing: Deadpool.

Marvel Studios’ Deadpool and Wolverine showcases the hilariously complicated friendship of the aforementioned heroes, as they work together to save their respective universes. The movie is a treat for diehard fans as it officially included heroes like Jennifer Garner’s Elektra and Wesley Snipe’s Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as well as different versions of Wolverine across the multiverse. This is why his fierce yellow and blue suit from the comics finally got its well-deserved exposure on the silver screen and now, Marvel Rivals.

It’s highly likely that Wolverine’s Deadpool and Wolverine skin will become a hit among Marvel Rivals fans. However, it’s also a little confusing that Wolverine has a skin based on a Deadpool film before Marvel Rivals could even include Deadpool in the roster. As of now, developer NetEase hasn’t teased whether it’s releasing the “merc with the mouth” in the future. There had been previous leaks about heroes reportedly coming to Marvel Rivals, but Deadpool also wasn’t part of the initial lists.

This isn’t to say that Marvel Rivals won’t include Deadpool in the roster down the line, especially with confirmation from the developers that they’ll add new playable characters every 13 weeks. Considering Deadpool’s popularity, it’s really a matter of when the game plans to launch him, and it shouldn’t take too long because there’s already a Deadpool and Wolverine-insipred skin. It would also be a waste if Marvel Rivals didn’t take advantage of Team-Up abilities between Wolverine and Deadpool as early as now.

Deadpool’s Role in Marvel Rivals Could Be Just as Chaotic as Him

Deadpool is a deadly mercenary with a manic personality, making him a terrifying foe to anyone who encounters him. If he officially becomes a playable character in Marvel Rivals, he could fit in the Duelist class because he could be a good offensive unit with his arsenal of guns and blades. Duelist heroes usually stand on the frontlines to deal significant damage and eliminate enemies to help their teammates reach the objective. He could also provide some comedic relief with his witty one-liners and fourth wall-breaking antics. Alternatively, with the game having so many Duelists, perhaps he could be a Strategist that boosts allies with some unique buffs.

Marvel Rivals
‘ Duelist class includes the likes of Black Panther, Magik, and Namor.

Apart from Wolverine, Deadpool could activate Team-Up abilities with other heroes he’s canonically worked with, like Spider-Man and Colossus. Skins-wise, Marvel Rivals could take notes from Marvel Snap to give Deadpool a costume based on his many forms in the multiverse. There are so many possibilities for a character like Deadpool because he’s present in a lot of factions and stories in various media. Unfortunately, Marvel Rivals fans might have to wait a while before he can become playable and get his much-awaited in-game interaction with Wolverine.
