Marvel Rivals, NetEase Games’ free-to-play hero shooter features a roster of comic book favorites from Marvel. Designed to play very similar to Overwatch, the 6v6 third-person shooter features tons of Marvel characters, like Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wolverine, on its 33-character launch roster. The launch roster also includes a few characters that haven’t been as prominently featured in things like other video games or the MCU, like Jeff the Land Shark and Squirrel Girl. Collectively, the game offers a wide variety of Marvel royalty.
Season 0 is a shortened season to kick off the launch of Marvel Rivals, running for just a little over a month. To match this shorter season, the game’s debut battle pass is also on the shorter side, offering a total of 29 rewards, with the premium version costing 490 Lattice, or about $5. The rewards in the battle pass include five skins, like the legendary Galactic Wings Mantis and Galactic Claw Black Panther. You also get 300 Lattice, the paid currency, and 300 Units, the in-game currency used in the shop. There’s also MVP highlight intros, sprays, emotes, and nameplates filling out the rest of the battle pass. NetEase has said that Marvel Rivals will only sell cosmetics items and battle passes won’t expire.
The Marvel Rivals battle pass uses a page system, with you earning Chrono Tickets for completing daily and other challenges, which can be used to purchase rewards from each page. Once you obtain a few rewards on a page, the next page unlocks, with this process repeating until you reach the end of the pass. The free version of the pass still includes the Empress of the Cosmos Hela skin and 100 of each currency, as well. If you are playing Marvel Rivals near launch, you can also get a free Iron-Man skin by punching in a code on in the settings menu.
