If there is one thing that Henry Jones Sr. taught Indiana Jones, it’s the importance of understanding religion. Within Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Indy’s adventure takes him to the Vatican, where he will need to put his knowledge of Christianity and Jesus Christ to the test in a puzzle titled The Sacred Wounds. It’s an essential puzzle that players must solve if they want to progress through the main adventure.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Review
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle offers some of the best puzzling and tomb-raiding in a video game, matching Spielberg’s films in many respects.
Once players arrive to this location during the Stolen Cat Mummy Adventure, it might confuse players on how to proceed. Luckily for them, they can find the solution to the Sacred Wounds puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, as well as how they can go about solving it themselves if their adventuring spirit just needs a guiding hand.
How to Solve the Sacred Wounds Puzzle
To start, players are going to find a few basins next to murals of Jesus Christ. These murals can be interacted with using the Blessed Wine, and pouring Antonio’s wine into the basin will reveal a number with Roman Numerals. There are 5 numbers that players need to discover, and then they need to understand which part of Jesus the number corresponds with on the main mural found in the center of the room. Players can also use the camera to hear Indiana’s thoughts on the murals, which provides clues and notes in the journal. Players can also use this camera on the central mural to unlock hints to make the puzzle easier for them.
Holy Chalice Mural
The first mural players can find is on the left of the main mural, and this one depicts Jesus Christ with wine in his left hand. The basin also shows the Roman Numeral for 2. This means that on the main mural, players must set Jesus’s left hand to 2.
Body of Christ Mural
The second mural can be found to the left of the Holy Chalice mural, and it’s inside a room that will lock players in once they enter. The mural depicts the Body of Christ, showing Jesus holding bread in his right hand, while the basin shows the Roman Numeral for 2. This means that the main mural must have Jesus’s right hand set to 2.
Spear of Longinus Mural
Following the second mural, head through to the next room and there will be the Spear of Longinus mural, a statue of Longinus holding the spear that pierced Jesus in his right hip. The basin here shows the Roman Numeral for 3. Break the wall to the left of this statue with a candle holder found leaning on the wall to re-access the main chamber, where players can then set Jesus’s right hip to 3.
Walking on Water Mural
To the right of the main mural of Jesus is a mural of Jesus walking on water with his right foot forward. The basin in front of the mural shows the Roman Numeral for 3. This means that at the central mural, players must set the piston on Jesus’s right foot to 3.
Anointment of Jesus Mural
Looking to the right of the main room, there will be a gap in the wall that players can shimmy through. Inside is a mural of Mary anointing Jesus’ left foot, and the basin shows the Roman Numeral 4. Once players get back to the main mural of Jesus, they can go ahead and set Jesus’ left foot to 4.
Sacred Wounds Puzzle Answers
To solve the puzzle, players must approach the mural of Jesus Christ on the cross, and interact with the 5 pistons, making sure that they are on the following numbers:
- Jesus’ left hand – 2 (II)
- Jesus’ right hand – 2 (II)
- Jesus’ right hip – 3 (III)
- Jesus’ left foot – 4 (IV)
- Jesus’ right foot – 3 (III)
Once players have entered the correct numbers in the correct spots, the mural of Jesus will open to reveal the inner chambers that Indiana Jones can further explore to continue his adventure.
