Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has its fair share of difficult puzzles, but perhaps none are more elusive than the Mak-Yek Puzzle. Once you’ve made your way to Voss’s Camp in Sukhothai, you’ll come across this deceptively difficult puzzle while searching for some money for the rebreather.

Best Action Adventure Games For Beginners

Action Adventure games capture the thrill of an expedition, and good ones deliver memories that last a lifetime.

Thanks to some tricky rules, a puzzle like this can have you stuck in place for hours at a time, trying to brute-force things. If you’re having trouble making heads or tails of this ancient Siamese board game, or if you just need to know where to find it, this guide has you covered.

How To Start A Game Of Wits Mystery

In the back corner of Voss’s Camp, near where you find the Royal Army Uniform, is a big green tent that represents housing the Nazi’s living quarters. To begin this mystery, you’ll need to make your way to the second floor using the staircase behind the tent. There you’ll find a table with a board game and two notes.

Behind the table is a safe. To complete this mystery, you’ll need to solve the puzzle using the notes and then input a four-digit code into the safe.

There are a few enemies patrolling this area. Either take them out or put on the Royal Army Uniform to avoid being detected while you solve this puzzle.

Pick up Lorenzo’s Challenge and Mak-Yek Rules on the table to start this mystery.

This room also contains a footlocker filled with gold, a medicine bottle, and the comic book Tales of the Dread #5.

As Lorenzo’s Challenge explains, the goal of the puzzle is to capture all of the red pieces by moving only four blue pieces exactly once. The Mak-Yek Rules state that you can move a piece in a straight line, horizontally or vertically, until it runs into another piece. To capture a red piece, you need to surround it with two blue pieces. If multiple red pieces form a row or column, you can capture all of them by moving blue pieces to both ends.

If you flip the Mak-Yek Rules over, you’ll find one additional rule written on the back of the page. If you move a blue piece in between two red pieces that are one square apart, you will capture both of them. This is called an intervention capture, and it’s an essential rule to understand in order to solve the puzzle.

To open the safe, you just need to take the number from the row each blue piece moves to, in order. Every time you move a piece, write down the row it moves to, and once you’ve moved all four pieces, you’ll have your four-digit code.

You can’t actually move the piece on the Mak-Yek board unfortunately, so you’ll just have to visualize each piece moving in order.

Indy a game of wits safe.

The first move you need to make is sliding the blue piece from F1 up to F3. This captures both of the red pieces on E3 and G3. The first digit of the code is 3.

The next move is to slide the blue piece from H1 to D1, capturing the red piece from C1, with the second digit of the code being 1.

Next, move B1 up to B8, this captures all of the red pieces on the top row and gives you the third digit to the code, 8.

Finally, slide the piece on F8 down to F6, which captures the final two red pieces on F5 and F4, and gives you the final digit of the code, 6.

Turn around to the safe behind the table and enter the code 3186. The door will swing open and reveal your cash prize. Congratulations, you’ve completed A Game of Wits!
