How to Get the Rat King Easter Egg in Citadelle des Morts

Players can become the Rat King in Black Ops 6 Zombies’ Citadelle des Morts map, and to do so, they must claim the 10 rats that can be found within the French castle. Players will need to know the location of every rat in Citadelle des Morts if they are to claim this great prize in Black Ops 6, allowing Zombies players to show off something shiny, and a few goodies that might just see them clear through the early rounds with ease.

Citadelle des Morts continues the tradition of fun and secret easter eggs within the Black Ops 6 Zombies maps, and an easter egg that involves rats and cheese is perhaps one of its very best, especially when players get a shiny new item to keep on their head.

How to Activate the Rat & Cheese Easter Egg

Once players enter the spawn area of the Town Square, head North and look to the right to a glass cabinet filled with wheels of cheese. Players can smash this cabinet with a melee strike or a bullet, and then interact with the wedge of cheese on the left to pick it up. From here, players are now tasked with finding all 10 rats in Citadelle des Morts. Players must go prone and approach each rat to see them scurry off, and here’s where they can all be found.

All Rat Locations in Citadelle des Morts

Rat #1 Location (Town Square)

The first rat can be found in the Town Square by the flower pot on the left side that is closest to the Nature Path area.

Rat #2 Location (Nature Path)

The second rat can be found in the Nature Path next to the North hole in the ground where zombies spawn.

Rat #3 Location (Village Ascent)

The third rat can be found in the Village Ascent area, just after opening the door from the spawn at Town Square. Go prone at the pizza van where the rat lurks near the obstructions.

Rat #4 Location (Village Ramparts)

The fourth rat is found within the broken wooden step at the Village Ramparts, up from the Courtyard in the Melee Macchiato side of the cannon.

Rat #5 Location (Entrance Hall)

The fifth rat is located underneath the two wooden chairs in the East part of the Entrance Hall after Jugger-Nog.

Rat #6 Location (Dining Hall)

The sixth rat is underneath a wooden palette in the Dining Hall, just next to the Stag Knight statue.

Rat #7 Location (Dungeon)

The seventh rat is in the Dungeon, within a cell at the North wall next to the weapon wall-buy.

Rat #8 Location (Sitting Rooms)

The eighth rat can be found underneath a wooden table beside a bunk bed and a desk in the South West corner of the Sitting Rooms where Stamin-Up is found.

Rat #9 Location (Alchemical Lab)

The ninth rat can be found within the Alchemical Lab once players have opened Pack-a-Punch. It will be hiding behind the stone tablet that shows the Elemental Sword symbols near the North East wall.

Rat #10 Location (Undercroft)

The tenth and final rat is found by the Mystery Box in the Undercroft at the West wall, scampering next to the bloodied hole in the bottom part of the wall where zombies can spawn.

How to Get the Rat King Rewards in Citadelle des Morts

Once players have all 10 rounds found and the rats themselves have run away, players can head to the Oubliette Room where they activate Pack-a-Punch. In the North East section of this room near the three stacked blue barrels, there will be a plate, and all 10 rats will be surrounding the plate waiting for some grub. All players need to do now is interact with the plate to drop the wheel of cheese, which will see all the rats devour it.

Once the rats finish eating, they will disappear, and leave behind a bounty of rewards. The rewards are mostly random, and players can acquire any Ammo Mod, Perk-a-Cola, Tactical Equipment, Pack-a-Punch Aetherium Crystals, and Essence. However, one prize is universally consistent, but only if players find all 10 rats instead of just a couple, and that’s the Rat King’s crown. While there seems to be nothing more to the Rat Crown in Citadelle des Morts outside of a fun visual identity that players can see when using emotes or entering third-person, it’s still a cute easter egg to accomplish for the true EE hunters out there.
