Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been out for about a month now, and with the holidays approaching, BioWare and EA have put the game on sale for consoles. So if you’ve been waiting to try the fourth entry in the fantasy RPG series, you can get it for a bit cheaper at the moment. However, for whatever reason, the PlayStation 5 version is only on sale if you buy the Deluxe Edition.
Xbox owners can buy Rook and friend’s group therapy session for 30-percent off, bringing the standard edition to a cheap $48.99. The Deluxe Edition, which includes weapon and armor sets for both Rook and all seven members of your party, is also discounted for $62.99, which is cheaper than the standard edition usually runs you. To be clear, these are just cosmetics you can toggle on or off in the game’s transmog system, not ones that have more powerful stats. You’re not paying more for an edge in the game’s action-based combat. The Xbox sale ends in “two days” as of this writing, meaning you have just this weekend (December 6-8) to buy The Veilguard for cheap on your Series X/S.
PlayStation, meanwhile, has the only Deluxe Edition on sale for $62.99 until December 17. The standard edition doesn’t get the same discount. That said, the Deluxe Edition is still cheaper than the base game, but for whatever reason, PS5 owners can’t get the same $48.99 discount Xbox users can. So keep that in mind if you want to take advantage of this deal.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard wraps up a lot of old story threads, but it does end with a cliffhanger that might recontexualize everything that’s come before. However, we won’t be hearing about that anytime soon, as BioWare has confirmed it won’t be making DLC for the game as it shifts focus to the next Mass Effect.
