Key Takeaways

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 adds the Astro Chicken skin to Shop, sparking mixed community feedback.

  • Not everyone is a fan of these newer cosmetics in Call of Duty, with some comparing it to Fortnite.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Shop is adding an “Astro Chicken” skin to the game, garnering a mixed reception from the community. While Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched with limited offerings in the Shop, it is being regularly updated, including this chicken cosmetic.

As the Call of Duty series has evolved over the years, it has become a games-as-a-service platform. Because of this, cosmetics offerings extend beyond the usual camo grinds to include numerous microtransactions between the Shop and Battle Pass. As it’s a new release, Black Ops 6 is missing some popular cosmetics from previous games, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles‘ Shredder, The Boys‘ Homelander, and iconic action movie hero Rambo. The first major bundle introduced to Black Ops 6 garnered some criticism from the community, a trend that seemingly continues with an upcoming addition.

The CharlieIntel Twitter account recently shared a clip of the Astro-Chick skin being added to Black Ops 6 with an upcoming Shop update. The Astro-Chick Ultra Skin can be equipped to Black Ops 6 Operator Grey, and it replaces her usual aesthetic with a pixelated chicken head and a silver spacesuit. The spacesuit has many smaller details as well, including glasses on the front and a backpack with a picture on it, with a ladle hanging out of a pouch. Beyond the Operator Skin, the Astro-Chicken appears to come in a bundle with various offerings, including four Weapon Blueprints, a Calling Card, a Cymbal Monkey skin, and more.

What’s Included in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Astro-Chick Bundle?

  • Astro-Chick Ultra Operator Skin
  • Mother Clucker ASG-89 Shotgun Weapon Blueprint
  • Payback AK-74 Assault Rifle Weapon Blueprint
  • Propulsion Thrustodyne M23 Wonder Weapon Blueprint
  • Ladle Knife Weapon Blueprint
  • Monkey Bit-Ness Cymbal Monkey Skin
  • Weird Birds Emote
  • Dot Ops Reticle
  • Clap Clap Boom Calling Card
  • Immolation Liquidation Gobblegum

Similar to the head of the Operator Skin, the Mother Clucker Weapon Blueprint has a pixel aesthetic, and it replaces enemies with blocky chickens when killed. The Payback Blueprint features the Dead Ops Arcade logo with “Mama’s Revenge” as a subtext, and it has stars and stripes like Freedom Fried Chicken on Black Ops 6‘s Rewind map. Beyond the Astro-Chick skin which players can also use in Warzone, gamers can play as a raccoon with the Cash Bandit Tracer Pack or a Shark with the G’Day Bait pack. While this is being praised by many members of the community, others are comparing the game to Fortnite with its current lineup of cosmetic offerings.

Although some gamers are taking issue with the colorful Black Ops 6 Operator Skins, there are many realistic offerings like Locked In and Cascade Failure. As Treyarch continues to update the in-game Shop, more cosmetics will be added, potentially including collaborations like previous Call of Duty games.
