Best Samsung Monitors for Gaming in 2024
These are the best Samsung gaming monitors available right now.
We loved the 2023 Samsung S90C OLED when it was released, even naming it our best OLED gaming TV over the popular LG OLEDs. In 2024, Samsung refreshed its OLED lineup and introduced a new entry-level option: the S85D OLED. The S84D is a Best Buy exclusive but has the same features and performance as the S85D. Unlike the higher-end models, the S85D and S84D use a traditional WOLED panel instead of a QD-OLED, but they still deliver the stunning picture quality we’ve come to expect from OLED TVs, with a few minor exceptions.
The S84D OLED was already at an excellent value at MSRP, especially compared to the premium prices of other OLED TVs. The huge 51% discount at Best Buy makes it even more accessible. In comparison, a 77-inch Samsung S90D OLED will set you back $2,500 after a $200 discount at Best Buy right now. Even stepping down to the smaller 65-inch S90D model will cost you $100 more. At $1,600, the S84D offers unbeatable value for anyone looking for a bigger 120Hz OLED TV this holiday season.

$1600 $3300 Save $1700
The Samsung S84D is a Best Buy exclusive of the entry-level S85D OLED. It delivers stunning picture quality with deep blacks and excellent contrast but may not match the high-end QD-OLEDs in peak brightness. Still, it’s an excellent option for those on a budget, and you can grab it at $1,700 off over at Best Buy.
Is the Samsung S84D OLED the Right Choice for You?
If you’re looking for a new OLED TV for watching movies or gaming, the Samsung S84D OLED is a great option. It has the full suite of HDMI 2.1 features, including a 120Hz refresh rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, and VRR, making it a solid buddy for your PS5 or Xbox Series X. Although it’s not a QD-OLED, movies and games look beautiful with incredible contrast and stunning colors, surpassing any non-OLED TV. It also gets bright enough for daytime viewing, and the picture remains accurate at every angle, which is ideal for group viewing.

What Is HDMI 2.1 and Why Is It Important for Gaming Monitors and TVs?
HDMI 2.1 is the newest standard of the HDMI port. Here is why you need it if you have a PS5 or Xbox Series X.
If you haven’t experienced a high-end OLED like the LG C4 or Samsung S90D, the S84D will likely blow you away. However, it does lose some ground in terms of color vibrancy and accuracy when compared to QD-OLED TVs. While the image quality is still excellent, QD-OLED models offer richer colors and greater accuracy at higher brightness levels.
As with other Samsung TVs, the S84D doesn’t support Dolby Vision. But considering its price, these are reasonable trade-offs. Most people won’t even notice the difference, especially when watching movies or playing games in a typical viewing environment.
For those looking for a QD-OLED TV, the 77-inch LG B4 is an excellent alternative. It’s currently discounted to $1,800 and offers a vibrant and colorful display with Dolby Vision support. Of course, if you want top-tier OLED performance, the LG C4 and Samsung S90D remain the gold standard, but these come at a premium price. If you’re prioritizing value and a large screen size, the Samsung S84D is hard to beat at its current price.
