Caves of Qud has a wide variety of settlements that you can find around the world, with many of them having their own unique quests for you to complete. When you make your way to Bey Lah, you’ll have the option to complete a quest that can change the fate of the village.

Whether a product of its time or an artistic choice, nothing beats a good pixel art RPG.
In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to complete the questline in Bey Lah, which ultimately ends in you settling the dispute here. There are three associated achievements for this quest that unlock depending on your choices, so we’ll cover how to complete each step of the quests here.
Where Is Bey Lah?
Bey Lah is located to the northeast of Joppa, as well as slightly northwest of Kyakukya. We’ve circled the location on the map above, where the settlement is one parasang above the player (which is us).
Once here, enter the settlement and head to the right, where you’ll see a large circular house and Hindriarch Keh standing in the center. This NPC is red and doesn’t move around from this spot.
Prior to going here, we suggest speaking with Lulihart in The Six Day Stilt. This is in the upper lefthand corner of the map at the top of the desert. Lulihart can be found right at the bottom center of the screen near a hookah. After speaking with them, they will give you the quest called Petals on the Wind.
This simple quest just tasks you with going to Bey Lah. If you have already started the first Bey Lah quest (Find Eskhind), then you won’t be able to complete this. The reward is one Yondercane, so if you want this, we suggest heading to The Six Day Stilt before going to Bey Lah.
How To Find Eskhind
After speaking with Hindriarch Keh, he’ll tell you that Eskhind left the village after supposedly stealing their treasure. For this first step of the quest, you’ll need to find Eskhind, who is found to the west of Bey Lah. Once you officially get the quest, you’ll also have the option to speak with Warden Neelahind. This is an NPC who stands near a hut in the center of the settlement.
We suggest speaking with Neelahind to learn more about the situation. While it is optional, they aren’t too far away from Keh, so it shouldn’t take too long.
Now, off to find Eskhind! To find them, simply head to the left two parasangs (which is two tiles on the map). Here, you’ll find Eskhind near the center of the map; talk to her to learn a bit more about the situation in Bey Lah.
After chatting with Eskhind for a bit, she’ll tell you that “the proof is in the petals”, and to return back to town. With no treasure in hand, go back to Bey Lah and speak with Hindriarch Keh. This will cause this portion of the questline to be completed.
There is a letter that you can
find in the same area as Eskhind.
Grabbing this and completing the associated quest before moving on can
change the outcome of the dispute in Bey Lah.
How To Complete Kith And Kin
Once you speak with Hindriarch Keh about Eskhind, you’ll start the quest Kith and Kin, which essentially tasks you with determining who took the treasure. At this point, you’ll goal is to gather evidence in Bey Lah, and then return to Neelahind to accuse a suspect.
It’s important to note that
there is no ‘wrong’ answer here.
If your accusation makes sense with the provided evidence,
then it will be treated as the truth.
How To Gather Evidence
Evidence is gathered by inspecting things around the village and talking to the NPCs who live there. There are four types of evidence that you can obtain, which are listed below.
- Craft
- Trade
- Illness
- Violence
Unfortunately, the clues are randomized, so you probably won’t have the same clues as us or anyone else. We suggest speaking to everyone in the village, and using the ‘look’ interaction on everything that you see lying around. Be sure to also look at the people associated with the quest, such as Keh and Kesehind.
All of the evidence is
found within the Bey Lah tile,
so you won’t need to do any traveling.
Picking A Suspect
You’ll have four suspect options to choose from, which are listed below.
- Eskhind
- Keh
- Kesehind
- Kendren (this is an outsider person)
When speaking with Neelahind, you’ll see a list of evidence to choose from. After picking a circumstance, you’ll end up on another list of people to choose from (which is the motive). If you choose an improbable suspect for the evidence, Neelahind will tell you.
There are impossible combinations, such as Keh being accused due to the copper nuggets (since he is allergic to it). Rather than wrongfully accusing Keh, Neelahind will just tell you that it’s unlikely, and you’ll get to pick again.
With this in mind, just try to choose the most logical combination of evidence and suspects. Here at TheGamer, we accused Kesehind after considering the fact that he recently got a brand-new set of armor.
Outcome Of Choosing A Suspect
There will be a different outcome based on who you accuse. For example, since we chose Kesehind as the suspect, the result was both Kesehind and Keh being stripped of their title. Keh was allowed to remain in the village, but Kesehind was banished and erased from history. With no Hindriarch, Eskhind returned to the village to act as the “interim leader”.
The other suspect options will change this outcome though. For example, if you accuse Keh, then they will be exiled. Some accusations are also affected by the quest Love and Fear, which requires you to deliver a love letter to Neelahind.
If you deliver the letter before accusing a suspect and then accuse either Eskhind herself or Kendren, then she will remain in exile and Neelahind will join her. If the letter is not delivered, then Eskhind will remain in exile and Neelahind will stay in Bey Lah.
Reward For Settling The Dispute In Bey Lah
As a reward for this quest, you’ll get a total of 1,500 XP (250 XP for the first two steps and 1,000 XP for the final step). In terms of items, you’ll get a variety of goods depending on who you accused. Here at TheGamer, we received a handful of grenades since we accused Kesehind with Trade evidence.
It seems that if you accuse with violence, the reward will be a weapon, while if you accuse with craft, the reward will be armor. Trade will earn you a variety of items ranging from books to grenades, while illness will earn you healing items like injectors.
There are three achievements related to Bey Lah, which you can find in the table below.

The Comedy |
Settle the dispute in Bey Lah in Eskhind’s Favor |
Accuse Keh |
The Tragedy |
Settle the dispute in Bey Lah and doom the village. |
Choose a motive and circumstance that are either violence or illness |
If you want to avoid dooming Bey Lah, then the two pieces of evidence for circumstance and motive shouldn’t both be violence or illness. Thankfully, it’s easy to tell if a piece of evidence falls into these categories. For example, the rumor of sore throats in the village is related to illness, and evidence of bloody fur is related to violence.
This combination of evidence will cause the village to have a tumultuous climate. If this is the climate the letter has been delivered, and you accuse anyone but Keh, then the village will be doomed. If you haven’t delivered the letter, then the village will be doomed no matter who you choose.
