What’s different between Fortnite OG and Chapter 1 Season 1

Tomorrow, Fortnite OG will be back permanently. As long as the game exists, players will be able to play the old map with old weapons, old locations, old items, and more. It’s something the players have been waiting for since the game mode was implemented for a month last year. Now that it’s back permanently, one question remains: How accurate is it?

Epic already stated that certain new movement mechanics wouldn’t be part of the mode. However, with graphic power and engine capabilities that weren’t around in 2017, will Epic Games be able to resist tweaking with OG to make it “newer?” A new video shows just how close they got to the actual original. In typical Epic Games fashion, they seem to have done a really nice job.

Fortnite OG Comparison Goes Viral Ahead of Launch

The comparison between Fortnite OG and the original season of the game currently has over 1.5 million views. Ahead of the launch of the permanent game mode, players are loving how close it actually is. The textures are slightly updated. It admittedly does look like they redid it for 2024 instead of just using the 2017 files in their entirety without making any adjustments.

There are also more clouds in the sky. The color grading is also a little better in 2024. Otherwise, aside from a random bush on a hill that’s been removed for some reason, everything looks pretty close. It may not be a perfect match. Still, it doesn’t look like the Chapter 6 game mode with updated graphics and other features.

OG becomes a permanent mode on December 6, and it looks like Epic has done another great job of balancing the current game with the original. Players want the original, but nostalgia sometimes blinds people to the faults of those older things. Fortnite OG will have mostly accurate textures, a few movement mechanics from later seasons, and everything else as it was in 2017. Fans can’t ask for much more.
