Many of the quests in Stalker 2 will have players making decisions that could potentially affect the world, their rewards, or sometimes both. The Three Captains side quest falls under the latter, as it directly puts the political future of the Zaton region right into the players’ hands.
If you’re looking to make a quick buck in Stalker 2, then Three Captains is an easy quest to pick up and finish. However, if you’re concerned about what you might miss out on if you pick one decision over the other, then this guide’s got you covered.

Three Captains Mission Guide
The Three Captains quest begins after you speak with Sonya Kalyna, the bar mistress in the Sultansk in Zaton. She’ll offer you an assassination job against Beard and Sultan, the leaders of the rival Loner and Bandit factions in the region. The mission is simple: kill both bosses while they’re making a deal in a warehouse nearby. For this quest, the objectives are:
- Kill Sultan and Beard
- Find and take over the sniper’s position (Optional)
You can go to the meeting place and just shoot everyone up. However, if you want to be more subtle about it, you need to do the optional objective.
Three Captains – Sniper Location
Once you accept the quest, head to the map marker as indicated by the quest. You’ll reach an abandoned warehouse compound flanked by two large crane towers. Sultan’s sniper is in the southern tower — be careful as you approach him, as there are booby traps on the ladders and the doorway.
Shoot the sniper hiding in the tower, go to the window overlooking the compound. From there, you should have a clear sight on Sultan and Beard, who are talking by a big, broken window. If you didn’t bring a sniper rifle like the Lynx in Stalker 2, take the unique AR416 leaning by the window.
Spare or Kill Sultan and Beard
If you kill the faction bosses, Sonya will give you your reward for a job well done. However, if you turn on the radio next to the window in the sniper’s nest, you’ll find out that Sonya was actually setting both Sultan and Beard against each other. Both leaders have no interest in fighting each other, but Sonya was forcing them into a conflict neither of them asked for.
In order to save Sultan and Beard, listen to the radio and wait for their conversation to finish. Then, a new mission objective will appear, giving you the option to side with the two leaders and betray Sonya. Once that appears, mercenaries will appear and attack everyone in the warehouse. Snipe them from the nest, or go down and fight them in close quarters.
Rewards and Outcomes
Regardless of who you save, you’ll receive about 8,000 Coupons for this side quest. However, if you kill Sultan and Beard, you’ll be able to loot an RPM-74 machine gun from the former’s body. If you decide to betray Sonya, both leaders will be grateful to you, and you’ll end up with improved relations with both of them. Technically, the modified AR416 and SVD-M in the sniper’s nest count as rewards, though you’ll have to repair the latter if you want to use it.
Known Issue
If you reach the sniper’s nest, kill the sniper, then climb back down before Sultan and Beard finish their conversation, the quest will auto-complete itself, potentially locking you out of the Sultansk permanently. To avoid this, wait for the “Side with Sultan and Beard” objective to appear before going down.
