This Beloved Christmas Horror Movie Will Be Back In Theaters This Year
While there are many fantastic scary festive stories, there is one popular classic that is getting a theatrical re-release this holiday season.
Written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, T he Monster features a lot of key players in the horror genre. Besides Terrifier star LaVera, the movie is also being directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV, and Spiral.
Philips is also known for portraying Trish Jenner in Jeepers Creepers, the movie’s final girl who runs from The Creeper along with her brother Darry (Justin Long). The end of the 2001 horror movie is as sad as it is bloody, and Philips gave an amazing performance full of emotion. The actress hasn’t appeared in a movie in several years. Her last role was voicing the character of Daisy in the 2019 movie Doom: Annihilation. Horror fans will definitely be pleased to see the star come back to the genre.
Besides portraying final girl Sienna Shaw in Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3, LaVera is also starring in Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novella The Life of Chuck. It’s exciting to see her acting career flourish as she ensured that Sienna was smart and interesting to watch. In Terrifier 2, she is a cosplayer who then sees Art The Clown in reality and in nightmares. These sequences make it tough to know what’s real and what’s not, which adds an intriguing tone to the popular sequel.
LaVera spoke to Dread Central about the Terrifier fandom, and she said:
“Something I love about this film is that it emboldens people to react vocally. I love it when people laugh or when you can hear that they’re disgusted or even feeling invigorated. I think my favorite experience was at the premiere of
Terrifier 2
. During the finale, people were literally cheering. I got chills. I was so psyched about that experience, and I hope the same thing happens for the third.”
LaVera’s talent is evident, and if she continues starring in horror movies, chances are that she will only have more and more fans. As for when fans can watch The Monster, according to Deadline, the movie is in production in Danbury, Connecticut right now.
