Key Takeaways
- Build-A-Bear now has a range of Sonic plushes that includes a talking Shadow the Hedgehog.
- The more expensive version of Shadow includes a voice chip with lines from Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
- There are also Sonic accessories such as a Master Emerald and Sonic shoes for your plushes.
There’s now less than two weeks to go until Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hits cinemas, bringing the curtain down on what has been a resurgent year for Shadow the Hedgehog. There’s more than just Shadow’s cinematic debut still to come, though. Build-A-Bear has added a Shadow the Hedgehog plush to its Sonic collection, and it’s available right now.
There are two versions of Shadow’s Build-A-Bear plush available and which one you go for depends on what you want from it and how much you’re willing to spend. The standard version is $34 and you can choose for it to arrive stuffed and ready to play with, or unstuffed so that you can take your Shadow into a nearby Build-A-Bear store and stuff it yourself.

Well, it was bound to happen eventually.
If you take it into a Build-A-Bear store to get it stuffed, you will presumably be able to add a voice chip so that the plush speaks when you squeeze it. If you go for the more expensive version of Shadow, the chip will be in there already, loaded with four phrases from the upcoming movie. The pricier Shadow plush also comes with a Master Emerald accessory, further confirming that the powerful item is not as out of reach as Sonic intended it to be at the end of Sonic 2.
Shadow’s four-in-one voice chip
can be bought separately for $8
which technically means you can put it inside any of Build-A-Bear’s plushes. Upset your nephews and nieces this Christmas by giving them a Pikachu that says “This ends now” in Keanu Reeves’ voice when you hug it.
Build-A-Bear Now Has A Shadow Plush Ready For His Big Screen Debut
They’re A Colorful Bunch
Joining Shadow at Build-A-Bear is the Blue Blur himself, and Tails who is an online exclusive. Both Sonic and Tails also have cheaper and more expensive options just like Shadow, both of which also include four-in-one voice chips. Tails’ plush doesn’t appear to include an accessory, so even the more expensive option is slightly cheaper than Shadow and Sonic’s, while Sonic’s is clutching a shiny gold ring. Clearly no one told Build-A-Bear that characters in the Sonic universe technically don’t know rings exist, although I guess Sonic uses them as portals in the movies so what do I know?
Build-A-Bear Sonic 3 Shadow Plush
Build-a-Bear has added a Shadow the Hedgehog plush to its Sonic collection. Created to celebrate the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the Shadow bundle comes with a Master Emerald accessory and a voice chip with four lines from the third movie.
One of the things that makes Build-A-Bear plushes unique from others are the clothes and accessories you can buy to dress them in. Sonic, Shadow, and Tails have a few things they can wear, including the leading hedgehog’s shoes that are a part of the Sonic bundle or can be bought separately. There’s also a blue Sonic 3 t-shirt that’s sold separately for $8.50.
