Snapdragon X Elite-Powered Mini-PC Allegedly Teased by Geekom

Snapdragon X Elite-Powered Mini-PC Allegedly Teased by Geekom

Geekom is a dedicated mini-PC manufacturer with a wide range of Intel and AMD mini-PCs listed on its website. As of the time of this writing, the company has allegedly teased the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite powered mini-PC.

While no other details about the system are available at this point, and Geekom has not made anything official, the official looking image comes from a Chinese social media website, and it shows a Geekom QS series mini-PC that is said to be powered by the Qualcomm chip.

Geekom QS Series Mini-PC with Snapdragon X Elite Processor

The leaked image comes courtesy of a Weibo user, and it looks to be a promotional image for a Geekom mini-PC that is part of the QS series. Giving this image more credit is the fact that the mini-PC has been pictured the same way as every other model on Geekom’s website, in a vertical and a horizontal orientation. It looks like a slightly larger Apple Mac Mini and is said to be powered by the Snapdragon X Elite processor.

Other than that, the image shows some of the I/O and ventilation on the sides. It seems to have a gray color just like the Mac Mini.

Geekom has been releasing Intel and AMD powered mini-PCs for years, but it looks like the company is planning something new in the mini-PC form factor. This comes as somewhat of a surprise as Qualcomm had originally launched a dev kit based on this architecture but ended up scrapping the idea and canceling preorders. Even though it had reached a few people, it never went into mass production, indicating that Qualcomm has killed the concept.

Now it seems like that’s not the case and Geekom is looking to shake things up. If the information turns out to be true and the company does release a Snapdragon X Elite powered mini-PC, it could be the world’s first, if no one else releases a mini-PC with a Snapdragon chip first. There are laptops powered by Snapdragon processors, including the X Plus and X Elite that you can buy right now, but the mini-PC form factor has been untouched by Snapdragon chips.

There is no other information available about the alleged Geekom mini-PC, so it is unclear what configuration it will be available in and how much it will cost. For reference, the dev kits with the Snapdragon X Elite chips running Windows 11 cost $800-$900. These came with 32GB RAM and a 2280-size NVMe SSD. The performance was found to be at par with the M3 Pro chip from Apple. That’s quite a lot of performance packed into a Windows mini-PC.

Since there is no information on the Geekom website or its social media, take this information with a pinch of salt. But, if Geekom is working on a Snapdragon X Elite mini-PC, we should hear about it in the near future.

Of course, developers will have to port over their apps to be compatible with the ARM-based chip. Earlier this year, Microsoft released its Surface Pro and Surface Laptop devices with Snapdragon X Plus and X Elite chips in hopes to usher in a new era of mobile computing based on ARM architecture.
