Pokemon TCG Pocket EX Card Wish List

Pokemon TCG Pocket EX Card Wish List

Pokemon TCG Pocket has been out for a little over a month now, and a solid meta has formed around the cards available in its introductory Genetic Apex set. Some of Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s most powerful cards are the EX versions of critters like Mewtwo, Pikachu, and Blastoise. However, there are still a lot of mons left without EX cards in the game, and hopefully, a future update will fill in some of the gaps in Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s EX card offerings.

In Pokemon TCG Pocket, EX cards tend to be the centerpiece of a player’s deck, representing the most powerful cards they can play. The game balances this coveted status by granting opposing players two points for knocking out an EX card rather than one like standard cards. Even with this drawback, most top decks in the Pokemon TCG Pocket meta rely on EX cards to secure victory, making them some of the most sought-after cards for players hoping to build a winning deck.

These EX cards would likely take on slightly different forms compared to their physical counterparts to accommodate for

‘s streamlined gameplay.

Pokemon TCG Pocket has placed a frustrating limit on its gameplay, and it may prove to have a negative impact on players down the road.

Pokemon EX Cards That Should Be Added to Pokemon TCG Pocket

Snorlax EX

Snorlax is an iconic Gen 1 critter that already has a presence in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but is lacking an EX version. The current version of Snolax in Pokemon TCG Pocket has a respectable 150 HP and the attack Rollout which requires four colorless energy to use, but deals 70 damage. The high cost of this attack, coupled with Snorlax’s four energy retreat cost, makes it slightly less than ideal despite a high HP pool, but an EX version of the card could offer a secondary attack with a lower energy cost or an even greater HP pool to offset these drawbacks.

Tyranitar EX

Currently, there are no Darkness-type EX cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket, perhaps due to the Genetic Apex set’s emphasis on Gen 1 critters. However, this leaves a huge hole for a future set to fill, especially with the prominence of Mewtwo EX in the current meta. A Darkness-type card like Tyranitar EX offering super effective damage could be the perfect answer to the Mewtwo EX decks players are likely to face in PvP matches, much like how Marowak EX can be a great way to shut down Pikachu EX decks.

Scizor EX

Like the Darkness type, the Metal type is also missing an EX card in the current Genetic Apex set for Pokemon TCG Pocket, but if a future set were to add an EX card of the Metal type, Scizor EX would be the ideal candidate. While it would likely have to change to fit Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s smaller scale, Temporal Forces’ Scizor EX card could be the perfect blueprint for this addition with its powerful Steel Wing and Cross Breaker attacks that can dish out high damage at the price of only two energy each. This version of Scizor EX would be the perfect complement to bulky Metal-type cards currently in the game, like Melmetal and Bisharp.

Koraidon EX and Miraidon EX

Although it might be a bit of a stretch to expect the Gen 9 Legendaries in Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s next set, Koraidon EX and Miraidon EX deserve to be eventual additions to the game. Both promo versions of these cards from the base Scarlet and Violet set feature abilities that allow them to attach energy to cards in play, something that is very useful, yet few cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket take advantage of. Not only would variations of these cards be great for encouraging energy cycling, but the popularity of Koraidon and Miraidon would likely make these chase cards for collectors in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
