It’s no secret that the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet games have been home to a ton of bugs since they launched, and now one fan has recently documented a particularly uncommon graphical glitch in the Gen 9 titles. This odd bug involves the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet player’s shiny Luxray somehow reverting partially to its default appearance, with the creature temporarily sporting a half-yellow, half-blue coloration.
From players accidentally clipping out of the map boundaries to character models being twisted into terrifying skeletal horrors, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have certainly been packed with bugs since launch. This plethora of issues, combined with the games’ poor graphical fidelity and performance, has marred the Gen 9 titles significantly in the eyes of many Pokemon enthusiasts. Of course, the games have improved somewhat over time thanks to a variety of patches which have aimed to fix many of the game’s most disruptive issues – but more than two years later, the overall state of the Gen 9 titles remains disappointing from the perspective of many in the community.

Pokemon Fan Shares Interesting Substitute Evolution Concept
A Pokemon fan comes up with a clever and intriguing idea for a unique Pokemon evolution that would happen after using Substitute.
On the bright side, this treasure trove of bugs can occasionally lead to some interesting or sometimes outright hilarious moments in-game, and even all this time after the launch of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, players are still being surprised by some of the bugs the games throw at them. One player going by the name AeroTheSpaceHorse recently shared some screenshots of the game that shows their shiny Luxray turned only half-shiny due to a glitch – a visual effect that many fans think is actually pretty neat, even if it doesn’t last forever. According to this player, their Luxray took on this appearance immediately after being transferred from Pokemon Legends: Arceus, though the Pokemon returned to its normal shiny appearance after a battle.
What This Half-Shiny, Half-Regular Luxray Looks Like In-Game
Since this bug features the Luxray using a mix between the Pokemon’s default and shiny colors, the bug must be related to the game failing to determine which of the critter’s appearances it’s supposed to be using. Why exactly this affected a Pokemon transferred from Pokemon HOME – and only affected half of its body – has left a fair few players scratching their heads, though.
Interestingly, while this issue is quite rare, other players have reported this same bug in the past. Even more interestingly, Luxray in particular seems to be a Pokemon that’s most often affected by this glitch, though it has happened to other creatures as well. Other instances have gotten even weirder, with some shiny Pokemon even featuring text plastered on their models’ textures.
