Though it saw a quiet launch back in 2018, Moonlighter became an indie hit in no time, with both critics and players enjoying its unique action-RPG/shop-sim blend. Today, during the PC Gaming Show, Digital Sun and 11 Bit Studios have announced Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, which marks the return of Will and his friends for another round of merchanting adventure.
Moonlighter 2 will see players control Will in a new dimension called Tresna, as he dives deep into the titular Endless Vault in pursuit of priceless artifacts and treasures. After fighting through hordes of monsters and retrieving the goods, players will then haggle and bargain with local clientele in an attempt to sell the wares for max profit.
Players will use a variety of weapons during their dungeon-crawling efforts, including swords, gauntlets, and even the occasional broom. After selling found artifacts, Will can use the funds to upgrade gear for the next dungeon dive, which will allow him to progress further into the vault.
The return to Moonlighter is the latest from Digital Sun, whose recent projects include the tower-defense game Cataclismo, as well as Mageseeker: a League Of Legends Story in partnership with Riot Games’s now-defunct Riot Forge publishing wing. GameSpot’s 7/10 review of the first game called it “refreshing,” while saying that “the balance struck between crawling through dungeons and working with the economics of the town are a good combo while it lasts.”
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is set to launch in 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
