Fantasian Neo Dimension looks set to be a challenge, especially for those of us entirely new to it.

Off to prison they are sent, with their one chance of victory coming from winning the coliseum battle above. There are twists and turns, and a healthy number of sob stories ahead, so make sure to prep yourself before you even step foot into the arena. You’ll need it.

Prepping For The Coliseum Battle

Plopped into their prison cell, the duo are informed that winning in the coliseum is their one chance of victory, so they better prepare themselves if they want a chance to taste fresh air again.

The guards very kindly offer to pit some monsters against you for training, so take them up on this offer if you want to familiarise yourself with Zinikr’s abilities. Otherwise, speak to the other prisoner in this cell, who also happens to be a merchant.

While they took the Dimengeon Machine and Warp Device, they graciously left Leo with all his cash. Peruse this merchant’s inventory for some helpful items, or any healing items you might be low on. Give special consideration to the Enhanced Sword and Tanzanite, as these are quite useful in the battles ahead. If purchased, equip the Tanzanite to Zinikr.

Once you’re all ready, rest on the bed to heal up, and then speak to Zinikr to head out to the coliseum. Make sure to save beforehand as well, in case you want to return to purchase items from the merchant. It’s time to fight.

Fighting Through The Coliseum

Choose Your Battles

Brought to the coliseum, you can now see that it’s not Leo and Zinikr versus the world, but a free-for-all with every monster and prisoner fighting for their ultimate freedom. This makes the coliseum a very dangerous place, but also one that lets you pick your fights.

You don’t actually have to do every battle in the arena, and can actually get your freedom with as few as four battles. You can challenge everyone if you want for the extra EXP, but keep in mind you have no dedicated healer at the moment. Make sure to heal up after every battle.

If you choose to partake in every battle as soon as you can, this also
changes some of the later fights in the coliseum
as well.

When you enter the coliseum, three fights are available to you, to the north, south, and east. The eastern battle, against the wolf enemy, is the mandatory one here. After defeating them, the coliseum will proceed to the next set of battles, with the fights available dependent on whether or not you participated in the initial ones.

From here, multiple new battles open up, though only the one to the east is mandatory. Weave your way around the north towards the giant bird monster (which the game will not allow you to battle anyway) and towards the giant seal-like monster. A brief bit of dialogue will play showing a child before you are dragged into combat.

After defeating this enemy, the coliseum proceeds to its final stage. Chase after the child, who just defeated the bird monster from earlier. You will get ambushed in the centre by a group of human enemies. The number of them is always the same, even if you participated in all previous battles.

With them defeated, travel to the western entrance where you first entered the arena to corner the child. Except they seem to be much more fearsome than their diminutive stature and age would indicate.

Battling The Minotaurus

Do you recall the Minotaurus, the star guest of this coliseum battle that was shown briefly at the beginning of this skirmish? Well this dastardly child has found a way to summon them, and they’re the last enemy between you and freedom. So take them down.

The Minotaurus is a relatively difficult boss by themselves, though it is the child, Ez, buffing them that makes this battle all the more difficult. Ez is also immune to any and all damage during this battle, so ignore him and focus exclusively on the Minotaurus.

Here are the stats of the Minotaurus, who is a pretty beefy boss.

  • HP – 9036
  • Attack – 189
  • Defense – 152

Though they have a weakness to Lightning damage, it is unlikely you will have any moves that can exploit this at present. They have no other resistances though, so you can at least use your most powerful techniques with ease. Let’s take a quick look at their moveset.

Move

Effect

Physical Attack

A regular attack that hits one party member for around 500. Will instantly destroy any Barrier generated by the Barrier Bangle.

Wipe Out

A powerful attack that strikes both party members for around 800 damage.

Intimidate

Used once their HP is yellow, hits both party members, reducing their Attack Power and causing them to skip their upcoming turn.

Stance of Desperation

The Minotaurus readies their club, and will unleash a devastating party-wide attack on their next turn. This can potentially wipe your party, so use Guard on Zinikr to keep him alive.

That’s everything in terms of the Minotaurus’ moveset, which isn’t incredibly expansive. Rather, the most difficult part is managing his boosted defense. Throughout the fight, Ez will perform two different actions – throwing his boomerang to hit a single party member, or using a Protein Drink to boost the Minotaurus’ Defense.

He is more likely to boost his Defense if you lower it with Helm Bash, though it’s worth doing so anyway to cut through his HP faster. Make sure to lower his Attack with Zinikr’s Blade Break ability as well, as Ez will not use any items to recover this.

Maintain this flow throughout the fight, using Samidare and Earth Strike on any turn where Minotaurus’ Attack and Defense are lowered, and Helm Bash and Blade Strike when they aren’t. Keeping with this will have the boss defeated before they can even use Stance of Desperation.

Minotaurus also has an
Amethyst M
on them, which reduces Lightning damage, so try to
Steal this with Leo
when you get the chance.

After the boss is down, only Ez is left. This is where he rolls out his sob story, bringing Leo and Zinikr to the brink of tears. Except he’s actually using a banned item, the Orgel of Sorrow, causing the whole coliseum battle to be canceled. No one is winning their freedom today.

Leaving The Prison

And you’re back in prison, but at least Ez has joined the party now. After some brief persuasion to get him to free you from your cell, the trio sets out to find the Warp Device and Dimengeon Machine, as well as a way out of the prison that avoids all the guards.

First off, head to the left from your prison cell to find a hole in the ground. This will be the exit you need for later. With that discovered, talk to everyone in the other prison cells. Many of them will ask to be freed, and it’s up to you to do so. This has no major ramifications, though one of the prisoners promises to reward you later, and does so if you meet him in the Capital later.

With deliberations on who to free out of the way, head on up the stairs to the right, bringing you to a small room. Once you enter, you’ll be treated to another cutscene where you retrieve Leo’s items, only to discover the Warp Device is broken. Because of course it is. So it’s escaping the old-fashioned way. Ez will also pick up a bunch of items for crafting used for his abilities.

Open the other chest here to get a
Potion L
.

You can enter the long room on the second floor, but it’s just monsters in cells you can’t interact with. Head back downstairs and through the hole to make your way back outside. This is a linear stretch to the exit, though don’t miss the chest at the bottom of the collapsed stairs, and another at the very top of some scaffolding. They have five Energy Drinks and three Potion Ls respectively.

With those out of the way, head through the parting cloth to the Ancient Mountain Path. Freedom is yours once again!
