You just defeated Vam, that must mean Fantasian Neo Dimension is about to end, right? Ah, but it has only just begun. The Chaos Fields are the aftermath of your encounter with Vam, but that big bad has been replaced by another – Jas. But before Leo can worry about that, he needs to worry about himself.

Fantasian Neo Dimension looks set to be a challenge, especially for those of us entirely new to it.
In the Chaos Fields without any allies or means of leaving, Leo has no choice but to trudge forward in search of something, anything, that will help him find his way back. All by himself, the Chaos Fields can be daunting, so read on to get through it all safely.
Find Your Way Through The Chaos Fields
To The Gauntlet
Once Leo wakes up after his battle with Vam, he will be in the Chaos Fields, an area completely unlike any other you’ve been in so far. Leo is also by himself, so you’ll want to be as careful as possible so that he isn’t defeated by the monsters here.
Thankfully,
random encounters are also much less common
in this section where Leo is by himself.
The path ahead is mainly linear, though make sure to check the map so you’re exploring the optional paths as much as possible, as there are some powerful items hidden within. Here are the items you can find along the way:
- Lolite, a jewel that will let you survive an attack that might otherwise defeat you with one HP.
- A Heal Stone.
- An Ether L.
By this point, you will have seen a few mirages of Cheryl and Kina, and even Leo’s own father, Bernard. This will have led you to a large hill, with the Gauntlet Vam stole from Leo hovering at the very top. Leo defiantly climbs this hill, equipping the Gauntlet that holds the spirit of his mother within.
With equipping it, Leo gains the full power of his divine artefact, giving him a passive bonus to all fire attacks in the same way the Divine Tiara did to ice attacks for Cheryl. However, its full power also unlocks the Growth Map for Leo, letting him choose his own skills and passives from now on.
By the time you’ve unlocked Leo’s Growth Map, he has likely
already learned every skill
he can from leveling up.
With the Gauntlet now in your possession, proceed onward, finding three Potion Ls in a nearby chest before coming across a familiar face.
To The Laboratory
Last seen in the Secret Base of the Machine World before the battle with Vam, Prickle and Clicker has also been dragged to the Chaos Fields, and gleefully join Leo’s party once again. Prickle has gained quite a few extra skills since they were first in the party at the beginning of the game, so take the time to learn them now.
After handing you three Heal Stones, ten Potion Ls, and five Ether Ls, you are free to explore once again. And as before, it is mainly linear with some powerful items hidden along the way. Here is each of them:
- Large Jade, a jewel that reduces your MP in exchange for boosting your HP.
- An Elixir.
- Five Ether S.
- Pearl L, a jewel that massively boosts HP.
- Three Poison Apples.
By the time you reach the Poison Apples, you will have already seen the large black orb that you must explore. Head towards it and inside to meet a new character, and some expansive lore on Leo’s father.
Meeting Valrika
After a brief exploration of the Laboratory, Valrika appears, a being who looks like, but isn’t quite, a human. She is a being of Chaos, a natural resident of the Chaos Realm. After looking at Leo and the Gauntlet on his arm, she immediately recognises him as the son of Bernard, who used this very laboratory while in the Chaos Realm.
Rather than explain everything herself, she leads Leo to the next room, where a litany of journal entries belonging to his father are kept. These detail his discovery of the other realms, and his efforts to revive his wife. Failing in this, he died himself, and his soul too became trapped in the Gauntlet.
With all of that in mind, it only serves to steel Leo’s resolve, and Valrika joins the party to assist him. Giving him a new Warp Device, they set out to the Chaos Lakes to find a suitable blue jewel to power it.
Before heading out, make sure to
interact with the terminals nearby to purchase any healing items or equipment
you might need. The upcoming boss is quite possibly the hardest so far.
The Chaos Lakes
Solving The Chaos Lakes Miasma Puzzle
Once you reach the Chaos Lakes, Valrika will give you a brief explanation as to how to acquire the blue jewels – you must defeat the Chaos Serpent, but first you have to summon it. This requires amplifying the miasma of the lakes in the correct order.
In simpler terms, this means interacting with each lake in the order that they erupt. Do this correctly, and every lake will erupt, summoning the Chaos Serpent into the large central geyser.
Interacting with the eruptions out of order will reset it, and
cause a group of enemies to appear
.
Begin the eruptions by heading to the central geyser and interacting with it. This will bring you to an overview of the area where you can see each lake erupting in order. It will be five lakes that erupt, though the order will always be random. As such, you’ll have to do your best to just remember it.
If you’re really struggling, you could also
save a quick clip of the game
to refer back to.
Once you’ve interacted with all the eruptions in the right order (and picked up the glue from the chest in the upper left corner), the Chaos Serpent will appear in the central geyser. Save at the save point and heal up before continuing. You’ll need full HP and MP for the fight ahead.
Defeating The Chaos Serpent
Before beginning the fight with the Chaos Serpent, it’s worth investing some points in Leo’s Growth Map. While there are many routes you could go, none that you will likely reach at the moment are massively helpful against the Chaos Serpent. As such, unlock the Jewel Slot+ skill instead, letting Leo equip two jewels at once.
We equipped the Garnet M and Pearl L jewels, giving Leo increased attack and a decent chunk of extra HP. This boss is a battle of attrition, so having as much HP on Leo as possible is essential.
As always, make sure to Anaylse the Chaos Serpent first so you can get a constant monitor on its HP throughout the battle. Initially, it’s not an exceptionally hard fight. It’s once the boss enters its second phase that things get quite a bit more complicated.
Let’s take a quick look at their moves to start with:
Attack |
Effect |
---|---|
Regular Attack |
A physical strike that damages a single party member. Will also break a barrier immediately. |
Poison Ball |
The boss fires a ball of poison at a single enemy. This poisons them, and also breaks through barriers immediately. |
Poison Feast |
The boss attacks any party member that is poisoned, transferring the status effect to themselves, which restores their HP each turn and charges up their ultimate attack. |
Poison Floor |
After reaching below half HP, the boss summons a permanent floor of poison that freshly poisons the entire party each turn. |
Poison Breath |
After reaching three charges, the boss unleashes a party-wide attack for massive damage. This also poisons the party again. |
As you can already tell from the attacks, the Chaos Serpent is all about poison attacks, which you likely have no way of defending against at the moment. As such, we’re going to focus on a strategy that relies on things you are guaranteed to have, or can still acquire. We’re pushing for longevity.
Funi enemies can randomly spawn in the Chaos Fields, and drop
Rose Quartz that grant immunity to poison
. Try to farm these if you’re really struggling against Chaos Serpent.
The initial half of the fight is quite simple. Any poison that is cast can and should be cured by Prickle, and he can be the primary healer in general as well. Meanwhile, Leo should always be using Helm Bash to reduce the boss’ defence, and Samidare to get in as many hits as possible. If you feel confident, you can use a turn to use Concentrate on Leo as well.
With Valrika, you’ll want to use Slow as much as possible to give yourself a headstart against the boss. Otherwise, she will be attacking using her regular attack to conserve MP, using Heal when necessary and using Ethers to restore the MP of others. Leo is our primary attacker.
Once the boss uses Poison Feast the first time, this means they will cast Poison Floor on their next turn. Immediately cast Barrier All with Prickle. This will stop you from being poisoned on the turn where Poison Floor is called. It is only a temporary solution, but gives you a turn where the boss cannot use Poison Feast against you.
From this point on, the battle continues much as before. Don’t bother curing the poison as it will just return anyway. Instead, prioritise healing at all costs.Once the boss has gained all three charges, they will use Poison Breath on their next turn. To prep for this, cast Crush with Valrika to lower their attack, and use Barrier All with Prickle.
The Barrier will be instantly broken, but it will mitigate a good chunk of the damage. If you have above 2,000 HP on each character, then only one of these will be mandatory. Use this turn before the attack to defend yourself and recover as much HP and MP as possible so you can get back to attacking in the next turn.
The Poison status effect can also kill your party members
and takes around 200-300 HP per turn. Make sure never to end a turn with less HP than this if you want them to survive.
And that’s all there is to the fight. As long as Leo keeps the boss’ defence down, they can easily deal sufficient damage with Samidare. Try not to get overzealous when the boss is low on HP unless you are certain you can defeat them. Leo will deal approximately 1,700-2,000 damage per Samidare.
With the Chaos Serpent defeated, you can return to the lab to power up the Warp Device, return to the Human Realm, and begin Act 2.
